Are the plugs wires or coil packs in their original position? Is your Compression equal in all Cylinders? Have you had a Diagnostic Scan? I would suggest all these things to determine what is causing your problem.

Check TCM codes. It sounds like you have a bad shift solenoid. It's actually locked in hi gear. It can be reset, but once it hits hi gear, it will lock again. There are temp (cheap) fixes, but fixing it right dictates that you replace all 4 solenoids in trans.
