power or just the sound? reason I ask is I had an antenna go bad (loose/rusty) and cut the sound in/out as it made and unmade contact to roof where it was mounted too, I guess too many car washes and it took its toll on it

Are the plugs wires or coil packs in their original position?
Is your Compression equal in all Cylinders?
Have you had a Diagnostic Scan?
I would suggest all these things to determine what is causing your problem.
Check TCM codes. It sounds like you have a bad shift solenoid. It's actually locked in hi gear. It can be reset, but once it hits hi gear, it will lock again. There are temp (cheap) fixes, but fixing it right dictates that you replace all 4 solenoids in trans.
Lift the bonnet and look where your fuse box is and there is a plastic lid with a lip on it lift it up and you will see 2 terminals + - or if there is only one it is + and use a nut or something metal for your earth hope this helps If you have a manual it will show you
The S60 model has a 2.4 five cylinder engine. That engine is not an interference engine.
The S80 uses a 6 cylinder 2.8 or 2.9 engine if it is sold in the US.
