2007 Hyundai Sonata 6 cylinder. I smell burning wires coming from right rear of engine. What can this be?

DO NOT use this vehicle! Smoke and a burning smell could be something serious! There is a huge amount of wires and electronics in a modern engine so unless you know what your doing DON'T mess about with the wiring. The safest thing to do now is to get a good Auto Electrician to come to you to look at this as soon as possible. This needs to be sorted as soon as you can to stop it becoming a VERY expensive problem. The rear right corner of the engine is where the main fuse box is located so this could be anything from a small wire to something much more serious.

Clicking noise when car is in reverse

An engine light means you need to get this looked at as soon as possible! The 'clicking' could be something serious. Most good garages and mobile mechanics will have a Diagnostic System or an OBD2 scanner that when plugged into your vehicle will provide specific 'Trouble Codes' that give clues as to what could be wrong. They will charge for this sao shop around as prices can be very different.

ESC light on/Now it says ESC OFF

Electronic Stability Control (or ESC) is a new crash avoidance system found on many vehicles. Unlike air bags, which only help you during a collision, ESC will help you to avoid loss of control that could lead to a collision.
ESC is designed to help you stay in control of your vehicle during an emergency manoeuvre, such as when you need to swerve or brake suddenly to avoid an obstacle.
ESC monitors your steering versus the direction of the vehicle. When they do not match, ESC will automatically actuate the brakes at one or more wheels for short periods of time, reduce engine power, or both. If at all possible, ESC will help you maintain control of your vehicle.
ESC is automatically "ON" whenever you start your vehicle. Some vehicles have an ESC Off switch; this switch is needed to disable ESC during certain situations such as when you are stuck in snow. If your vehicle has an ESC Off switch, refer to the vehicle owner's manual for more information. Unless you manually shut ESC Off, it will remain active until you turn the engine off.

Engine light came on at 60,000 miles and code

That depends on the code and your knowledge of auto technology.
What you don't want to do,is start throwing parts at it,as a result of a misunderstanding, of any suggestions or help you may receive.
Codes do not tell you what is wrong, or what to replace.

If the throttle is sticking, you could spray it, with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner, not carb cleaner. Leave the carb stuff, for the lawn mower.

In general, I would say, if your not up on todays vehicles systems and have a strong background in electrical troubleshooting, and years of auto repair, your left with seeking help, down the street at a local repair shop.

Will not shift. Gear shift stuck in drive. I removed the little cover and bypassed the safety with a screwdriver. What is the usual problem that causes this? What is required for repair?

There is a lock that is activated by the brake pedal. You should hear a click by the gear selector when you step on the brake pedal. If you don't hear the click then you probably have a cut wire that goes to the brake safety actuator
