It might be the ignition switch. Not the starter. If you aren't even turning the engine over then it's probably the switch or the solenoid on the starter. If it's the solenoid then just replace the whole starter.

Get refinishing kit from auto parts store ($60-75) and DIY or go to stealorship and they will gladly charge you $200 to refinish. Bulbs are available at most auto ports stores too..

it could be any thing , start with fuel , make sure there is fuel in the car , then if you have a jumper cable , conected to other car and see if it start , if not then go and check the fuese like fuel pump relay , starter relay ..etc ...dose your car crank when you started or it totally dead like no sound ??

No. When this happened to me, i had to pry the cap off and buy a new one.

Position Bulb hailure is caused by the rear tail light bulbs, (the message is cryptic at best). I have had to replace my wife's 2006 xc70 about a half a dozen times. the problem I see is due to the holder the bulb sits in. It is a PAIN replace and seat properly so if there is a connectivity issue with the holder and lens assembly you'll get that message. I would typically see it when I hit a bump or stepped on the break. The message would flash intermittently and annoy me no end. Before you put the bulb\holder back in the light assembly, make sure that you apply some bulb grease and also check to make sure that the spring loaded terminals that make the electrical contact are not compressed or bent, if theat are you will continue to get the message even if you replace the bulbs, (becase the bulb was not the problem, the problem was the holder).

i would have the ignition switch changed sounds like it is out of alignement the teeth or its messed up

Most key remotes come apart with a small screwdriver. Seperate the 2 halfs and replace with same size button batteries.

p0301 is cylinder # 1 misfire detected-- it could be plugs, wires, or coils. then run a good injector cleaner in tank, this may help to keep injectors clean. have a good holiday !!
