check engine light flashes 8 times.That doesn't mean anything . Won't start ! let's examine that first . When you turn the key to the start position , does the starter spin the engine ,yes , no ? If it does this is a cranks no start condition . Now if nothing happens ,this is a no crank no start condition. Who replaced the heater core , You ? You didn't hook something up right , mess up some wiring etc...

The are bolted into the back of the wheel bearing hub, just follow the wiring harness.

I'm assuming you are using the key fob remote the contact's inside the remote are not staying in contact with the battery if you squeeze the remote in the center then press the button it should work if you replaced the battery recently if not that battery maybe weak and needs to be changed if your using the door switches inside the car while trying to unlock the doors this also could be the switch contacts are dirty and burned and can be cleaned with alcohol and an emery board lightly to remove the burns from oxidation to get them shiny again

This is the best source for schematics but beware these are fully detailed and can be confusing/overwhelming if you are not familiar with schematics of this type. The flashing of the OD light is the transmission control module informing you of a problem with the transmission. You will need a scan tool that can communicate with this module to retreive the codes and help isolate the problem. You can also try disconnecting the battery to reset the module and see if it corrects the problem. If it does, Have the codes scanned as this problem may come back
