2005 Chevrolet Chevrolet Malibu LS - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Auto theft device activates on it's own car won't start. sit for 10 minutes with key on then it will start
Does it only happen when you unlock the doors? Replace the door latch, even if you open it with a FOB. leave the doors unlocked and see if it will start. If you still have to do a reset, Then look for BCM fuses. Check them all. Pull them out and check, corrosion. After that is wire chasing. You will need wiring schematics and pin outs for the plugs. Look for the B+(constant power) wires and pin outs. You would have lost power some where.
Chevy malibu 2005 3.5 a/c orface tube location
Yours has a thermal expansion valve (TXV). no orifice tube . look at fire wall where the a/c pipes go in look for this part . The thermal expansion valve is located in the liquid line between the condenser and the evaporator. The thermal expansion valve is the dividing point for the high and the low pressure sides of the A/C system. As the refrigerant passes through the thermal expansion valve, the pressure of the refrigerant is lowered. Due to the pressure differential of the liquid refrigerant, the refrigerant will begin to vaporize at the thermal expansion valve. The thermal expansion valve also meters the amount of liquid refrigerant that can flow into the evaporator.
How to change rear sway bar bushing chevy 2005 malibu
The sway bar bushings are easily replaceable ....remove the 2 bolts that hold the mount and remove the old/damaged bushing.....slip the new one over the sway bar and replace the bracket....done.
I would replace both while I was under the car....here is a picture for reference....
How to replace replace hood release handle
The handle isn't sold seperately, gotta buy the handle and cable together. If the cable is ok, you can just use the handle off of the new part. Changing the whole cable isn't too easy. You can see on the back of the new handle how it slides into place.
Chevy Malibu 2005 window wont roll up or down.
Sounds like the window regulator broke (the mechanism that moves your window up and down). It has cable to do the lifting the window up and pulling the window down. These cables do break.
Chevrolet spark stalled and at times wont start or idle but cranks
Some potential solutions:
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation): You mentioned that you cleaned the EGR, but it's still showing as a fault. The EGR system recirculates exhaust gases back into the intake manifold to reduce emissions. If the EGR valve is malfunctioning or clogged, it can affect engine performance.
Here are some steps to consider:
Check for Vacuum Leaks: Inspect the vacuum lines connected to the EGR valve for leaks or cracks. A vacuum leak can disrupt EGR operation.
Test the EGR Valve: Use a vacuum pump to check if the EGR valve opens and closes properly. If it doesn't, consider replacing it.
Clean the Intake Manifold: Sometimes carbon buildup in the intake manifold can affect EGR flow. Clean the intake manifold thoroughly.
Thermostat: You've already replaced the thermostat, which is good. A faulty thermostat can cause overheating or poor engine performance. Make sure the new thermostat is functioning correctly.
System Voltage Low: This could be related to the charging system (alternator, battery, or wiring).
Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
Check Battery Voltage: Measure the battery voltage when the engine is off and when it's running. It should be around 12.6V when off and around 13.8-14.4V when running.
Inspect Alternator: Ensure the alternator is charging properly. If it's not, consider replacing it.
Check Grounds and Wiring: Loose or corroded connections can cause voltage issues. Inspect battery terminals, ground connections, and wiring.
Idle Issues: If the engine won't idle properly, consider the following:
Idle Air Control Valve (IACV): The IACV controls idle speed. Clean or replace it if necessary.
Throttle Body Cleaning: A dirty throttle body can affect idle quality. Clean it using throttle body cleaner.
Vacuum Leaks: Check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold, hoses, and gaskets.
Timing Chain: The B12D1 engine uses a timing chain. However, if it's stretched or worn, it can cause issues like poor performance or stalling. Consider having the timing chain inspected and replaced if needed.
Remember that diagnosing engine issues can be complex, and it's often best to consult a professional mechanic or use diagnostic tools.
