I have a 2000 model VW polo classic 1.8i...it

did you change the thermostat - if it stuck closed the car will overheat. if you have a head gasket leak - the temp guage will move around and you will have air bubbles coming in your coolant reservoir - you can also check your oil (dipstick) for signs of water (white slime)

I have been offered a W reg 1.4 polo which is in

the speedo is controlled by the VSS sensor in the box and it is not all that expensive The rev counter ( tacho) is controlled by the ECM as it get is impulses from the ignition control module nothing to do with the ABS ( anti - brake skid) unit which is connected to the brakes transmission problems you take to an accredited auto transmission specialist

Stinks of petrol wen av filled it up its that bad you cant drive it

Something, somewhere is leaking. you are actually a fire hazard until you resolve the issue. There are systems to handle fuel vapors, and that may be an area to investigate also.

Key stuck in door

Hi. you will need to remove the handle and strip the door lock. there are repair kits available from the agents to repair thses handles

check relay and hazard light switch as the switch is not often used they some times gum up operate the hazard switch several times

Why does it idle erratically

1 of 2 things. vacume leak or vacume hose off (possibly at air filter box). 2 idle steper motor.
