Is there a radio code? I am about to change the battery.

There is probably a radio code, though it is wise to proceed as if there is even if there isn't. Keeping the electrical system energised while changing the battery will keep anything with a memory alive and remembering the current settings - time, date, radio stations, speaker settings, trip computer data and suchlike... People happily pay top prices for used cars only to later discover half the stuff they will eventually need is missing. One of these is often the radio and possibly other security codes. There are several ways to feed power into a car electrical system while the battery is changed. The favourite way is to obtain a device that plugs into the cigar lighter or power socket. These can be self-contained or temporarily use a third car battery. Such memory-savers are available in a variety of prices and complexities. The rechargeable battery-booster intended to plug into the power socket that is often sold to unsuspecting people through gift and mail order catalogues can double as a memory-saver, which is about all they are good for. If you have a radio code then I suggest you find it and also read the manual. Lots of radios have a security system that can be disabled, temporarily or permanently and this would be the best thing to do before you start your job. When changing your battery, please don't forget to read and observe the safety information - under certain conditions a battery can go off like a small grenade.

2015. Why doesn't temperature control return from hot to cold?

The heat for the cabin is taken from the circulating water in the engine cooling system. When you operate the knob/dial, it activates a valve which allows the water to flow through the venting system. It is possible that the valve may be malfunctioning, so that when you return to colder air, the hot water is still circulating.
