After searching on the net we saw a blog that said in rrsponse to having the rattle to ring the suzuki customer service hot line so we did. Found out that our jimny had a VIN number that was part of a recall that is still current. We booked in to get the rattle fixed at no cost they said for 12 Jan 2015. However today as we were driving along the steering column broke completely. We got the jimny towed to the same suzuki dealer and will be fixed free of cost next week. Moral of the story is ring Suzuki customer care and don't put it off!

Some front end part is worn, probably ball joint(s). Jack up and put on stands, have helper put long bar or 2x4 under front wheel and raise wheel up and down while you look for loose motion. If none found, have helper wigle steering wheel back and forth while you look for loose play in steering parts.

we (USA forum) do not have Jimny cars. here. so what engine, we can never guess your engine we can look under your hood, so... you need 2 things staged torques and order. per wiki there are these engines used on GEN3 658 cc K6A I3 (JB23) 1,298 cc G13BB I4 (JB33) 1,328 cc M13A I4 (JB43) 1,461 cc K9K TD I4 (JB53) we have not a clue. google your engine real name with head torque and win.

Blue smoke is oil,white smoke steam or trans mission fluid. Check that auto fluid not going up a vacuum line if it has a modulator.

its misfiring, do a tune up, end misfire. misfire, is #1 spark bad. (mostly) or gross fueling issues. try new spark plugs. (at the least)

idle is too low? look at the tachometer. What RPM is it? 800 ok, 300 bad. the silly switch comes on at 3 to 5psi, (bad bad horror that) if the light comes on, the oil pressure is horribly low. running 5w oil? low rpm, or wrong oil., or bad news. if rpm too low, fix that first. all cars.

Engine may have slipped off mounts and fan may be rubbing a hose. This would stop when you stop, be reason for water loss and burning smell . Check hoses around front of engine, if this is the problem then engine mounts need replacing and hoses.

A bolt has fallen out of the selecter happened to our 99 jimny took bout hour to pull apart lock tighted bolt back in sweet as a nut

sounds like an electrical issue possibly caused by loose terminals or a loose ground check your connectors might be a cluster issue

Caused by insufficient belt tension. The classic test is to depress the belt in an area where two pulleys are spaced a foot or more apart - the amount of depression (one thumb pressure) should not exceed 2.5cm - one inch.

Question edited for clarity. Took me ages to work out you meant whining, not winding. I was thinking like 'wind noise', or was it like winding a clock? No they have to be like for like. It is a preprogrammed computer and they don't adapt and learn. One ECM, one job only. There are places that will repair your old one.
