1989 Subaru Legacy. It does not engage gears when computer box is connected and if I disconnect it, it moves with a single gear and I guess it's the 3rd gear?

Some sort of failsafe so that if the ECM / TCM fails, you at least have one gear. You need an auto electrician to diagnose. A professional grade scan tool computer can diagnose in 30 minutes. They are bi-directional so they can instruct shift solenoids to operate and verify that they did. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+electrician+near+me ..

Subaru Legacy. No year told nor what engine is there nor VIN 8th digit USA is engine code and not toldparts for cars are based on those facts.my guess, winter engine block heaters of many types even those sold by maker Suburuwhat heater models work best or fit.some pans are aluminum and magnets useless.(mag heaters generic sold in all autostores on earthgoogle that.or how to do it.or is this a parts buy question.why not buy it from OEM dealerpersonally I only like the heater water tube LOOP hose kindhas heater and pump and 2 hose and and AC plugthat fits to a heater core hose/ pipe (one of them)nothing works better.for sure if at -30F. top of engine freezes first.! oops.have shop put it in, tell them which kindthere 3 kinds, above pump kind(always works)core plugs (horrible if it leaks, engine wrecked)pan magnet heater.safe if works/fits some don't.some engines, none told have brass screw port for the OEM heat, now this works and will not leak as it screws in and 100% secure, but seen on only current engines 10 years or so. but no year toldthe new engines have no core plugs in the blocksso makers added the cute brass dummyy plug for oem heater option./? the oem Subaru site will tell you what is sold for options/if car is not too old ,but no year told so no examples possible, guessing all years

On a 2001 subaru legacy where is the power windows fuse and relay located

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime. www.reliable-store.com

My car tends to overheat

A blown hose was either old, or I suspect the thermostat is not opening. Did you follow the method to clear air pockets in the cooling system when refilling it? Are the radiator fans functioning?

I have a subaru legacy

If you've never changed the timing chain on this vehicle, you've gone twice as long as is advised. Not saying that's the issue, but it could be. I've had Subarus for years and change my timing chains at 90K miles, trouble or not.
