Neither key fob will lock doors, the fobs will unlock them however. Changed batteries no help.

Most likely the Lock switch on the fob circuit board has broken away from the board. With a fine point soldering iron it can be fixed. If the switches are OK, you may need to reprogram the fobs (one at a time...). Look at the instructions in the Owners Manual.

Hatch won't unlock

Donald: Here are some comments on SubaruForester.org : "We just got a 2007 Subaru Forester> and we absolutely love it. I was wondering if anybody out there has a solution to this small gripe: The only way to open the rear hatch is to first unlock the driver's> side door, then hit the unlock all button, then walk back and open the rear hatch. It sure would have been nice if the rear hatch had a slot for the key, or there was a button on the remote you could press. Anybody else have this gripe, and is there a solution? --------- Two presses of "unlock" on the key fob unlocks all 5 doors. -------------------------- If it has a key, try that. ========== My only suggestion is double-clicking the unlock button, while standing next to the rear hatch. I know that on my 2003, it's sometimes a matter of timing. ================== I remember reading somewhere (can't recall where) that sometimes if you are parked on uneven ground the rear hatch can be a problem to open. If you are on uneven ground, try moving the Foz to a more even place.

Plastic smell and smoke

The plastic smell is most likely the friction material on the clutch due to overheating. A defective throwout bearing or broken clutch spring can cause this issue. Excessive heat in the clutch system may also damage parts that would effect pedal height. *Remove the inspection cover on the the transmission and look for signs of black dust, broken clutch springs or metal shavings, and discoloration on the flywheel.

BELT SQUEAK ON 2007 SUBARU FORESTER 2.5X

you have to tighten the belt most likely if it squeals when you just first start it up and then it stops you can put some belt dressing on it and try that. See repair manual to tighten your belt either by using the tension er or some you can use the alternator adjustment to tighten up the belt as well. There could be other reasons as well but not as likely. They are 1. could be the bearings wearing out on one of your tension pulleys. 2. water pump might be going bad keep an eye on your temp. gauge. 3. air conditioner compressor could be shot or bearings going bad. and there are several others that are even more remote so hope one of these will help.

Sounds like flat tire but tire is not flat

I suspect that the tire is old and the steel belts are failing. Pull the wheel off and check the tire for cracks in the tread, any out of round or bulges. Get a new tire (or tires).
