My mechanic told me that
The timing is determined by the BCM (the Body Control Module) based on sensors that determine the position of the elements of the roof and the windows. If the timing is off then either some of the sensors are sending bad data (or none at all) or the firmware of the BCM is corrupted.
So no, there is no way to do a reset because that possibility simply doesn't exist. You first need to find out what caused the bad timing by testing the sensors and the BCM with a special code reader. Then you need to replace the failed sensors or fix their wiring and finally reload a new firmware in the BCM. This is a job that only a very well equipped repair shop can do (or a dealer) so a visit to one is mandatory.

Find where the drain pipe exits the car - normally under or by the wheel arch/ lower engine frame. check it is not blocked with debris as the pipe end often has a soft moulded section which is designed to stop blow-back but allow water to pass. if this is okay try blowing UP the pipe to clear obstructions.
hope this helps - good luck
97 Jaguar XK8 has no
There are only two bolts that hold the power steering pump one is the main bracket and the other is the adjustment and by the way youll have to remove the 2 belt in front if any are there. 1 remove the belts. 2 reove the power steering hose.3. take bolts out the attatchiment to block bolt out. 4 take out the adustment bolt. remove the pump. install in the reverse order, By the way power steering on jaguar has what they call morning sickness that when it stiff then unstiff as it is driven if the steering is not being assisted then you are going to have replace rack n pinion. In my opinion with jaguar, your rack n pinion is faulty.let me no there is a way to test the pump. Heres how turn the wheel and remove some fluid when the pump is low does it churn and foam the fluid? If yes do the rack n pinion. leave the pump alone
1997 XK8 will not start;
Hi, can you have someone watch the engine while you crank it? The starter not engaging is one possibility. Another is a separated flexplate. Either way, if the engine isn't turning, you will have to remove the starter. You can easily test the starter buy reconnecting the terminals after removal. Check to see if the gear is moving up the shaft. If not, replace. If starter is OK, look into tranny to see if flexplate is loose. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.
Gearbox fault warning sign
Lots of things can cause this warning - from engine faults (misfires) to actual g/box faults - get the codes scanned to see what faults are being logged this will give a good service shop a idea of what is going on. - hope this helps

My transmission on my XK8
Hello
There are just a few things that cause the transmission to slip here is the list.
1.Low fluid level, check the level hot with transmission in neutral
2. Low fluid caused loss of hydraulic pressure to the forward clutch pack drum or low pressure caused by internal seal leaks in the front pump or fluid pressure galleries.
3. Worn forward clutch plates.
The last two problems will require an overhaul of the transmission or installation of a manufactured unit.
Based on the symptoms you have and assuming you have had the fluid level checked and it is ok you will need to replace or rebuild the transmission. It is a hard fact that once an automatic transmission starts to slip it is usually done. What can you do to possibly extend the miles a little further? Have the fluid flushed and a new filter installed in the transmission may help.

Welcome to Fixya
Beneath the handbrake level there would be a small electric/electronic switch which must have got damaged and need to be replaced. There's one more serious concern sometimes when the main brakes malfunction the same indicator glows so better get your vehicle's entire braking system thoroughly checked.

My 1997 xk8 with only
Hi greg, this is a common problem with these design of headlights. Your problem is obviously a sealing one. Thes headlamp assembly is sealed from factory with only the bulb opening (the hole where you would service the bulb in back of assembly) There is a o-ring and sometimes a rubber washer around bulb these can become brittle and allow moisture inside lens(inspect bulb and replace if neccessary) The other place these can leak is where they join the two molds of the lens together usually noticable by a seam halfway around the assembly. Methods of repair to these areas are two part clear epoxy found at your local hardware auto supply stores etc...These method can be messy and lead to undesirable results. Next there is a process in which you use a plastic welder, expensive and some experience required but results are ususally flawless. Next the most practicle of repairs would be to replace headlamp assemblys, expensive but as with any moisture instursion you can bet on mold and hazing inside and on surface of lens this may be your best choice. Other methods which are not personally used by me but have seen done are to drill two small holes at bottom of lens (drain holes) let water drain and then use a clear caulking to fill in hole. Good luck.
