Wrist pin knocking

Start simple. It could be as simple as a loose spark plug. Get a mechanics stethoscope and track it down.Take off the cover and listen at each plug. Then listen at the side of the block, and down along the base. If it's a rod bearing or wrist pin (opposite ends of the connecting rod) then you should be able to narrow it down to which cylinder. You can hear amazingly clearly with the right tools. ------------- KNOCK:-- Like knuckles on a wooden door, this sound is deep and hollow. Often it's a warning that something important (and expensive) is about to let go.

It's unfortunate that a loose pin sounds pretty much the same as a defunct rod bearing, but with a little patience you should be able to determine what's at fault.

First, check idle oil pressure even if you have to screw in a mechanical gauge. If it's low, you can bias your decision toward bearings.

Next, listen with your stethoscope. A rod bearing makes more noise at the oil pan than elsewhere, and a wrist pin more racket up on the water jacket. Hold RPMs at 2500, **** the throttle open and let it snap closed. This will accentuate rod knock, whereas pin noise won't change very much.

Now's the time to starting shorting out cylinders. A bad pin will quiet down, but a rod knock will double its cadence.

Finally, you can pull the pan for a visual inspection. If the bearings are good, you know you've got a pin problem.

-----------------

If you can make the knocking stop by disabling that cylinder, the problem will be in the piston and wristpin. The fit of the wristpin to the piston is too loose, causing the knocking. The fix for this condition is to disassemble the engine and replace the particular cylinder piston and wristpin.

What is the most common

This lean code on both bank 1 and 2 are many a times due to dirty or defective MAF sensor or vacuum leak. Try to clean the MAF sensor with the correct cleaner for this application and check for vacuum leaks.
But if both the MAF and vacuum leaks checked out ok.THen the problem is related to fault in the fuel system.
It can be any thing like Fuel pump,Fuel filter,Fuel pressure gauge etc etc .
First check the fuel pump.If its faulty it needs to be replaced.
Still as you mentioned that lean code for both bank 1 and bank 2 comes up.Both of them wont fail together however a vacuum leak will cause the codes Easiest one to check which takes seconds once you remove the plastic tray on top of your engine is the crankcase breather pipe running from the crankcase to the manifold (beside your air-box) .
Its common for the pipe to split underneath allowing UN metered air into the system causing the check light and the car to run lean.
Jaguar brought out a much sturdier pipe and dealer sells loads. They are around GB£5
Heres the location of the pipe

The wiper is stoping 5CM

The wiper motor can be reset to rest at the base of the windscreen , with the wiper in the parking setting -off, remove and set the wiper arm down to rest on the base of the windshield. test to confirm if the resting is correct or redo .
The ACS normally comes on while the car is powered and is seen on many that can be wished away if there are no issues. make sure that the lights dont come back to stay when it needs a check. otherwise in the initial momentum the sensors can interpret with an error.
Prefer to leave if off as the full unit cost and there is no point to change unless it shows up in a technical failure.
Even many forums have reported this and responded to go on..

I locked my keys in

Hi there,

Well It's very difficult to gain access  to xj8. Short of having a key, No. But a Jaguar Dealer can get you a new key for your car typically in 3 working days max. and possibly overnight. The new key will not start the car until it is programed but it will open the trunk. You might look in the glove box for a trunk release button. The computer systems are very complex on a Jaguar which prevent theft. If you are desperate to get in you could also try going into the trunk though the back seats.
Instructions for removing the rear seat..
1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Detach the rear seat cushion front retaining clips.
3. Slide the rear seat cushion out of the retaining hooks.
4. Remove the rear seat cushion. NOTE: Remove and discard old retaining clips.

Installation
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure and make sure the safety belt buckles are located through the cushion. note. You have to Install new seat cushion front retaining clips..... Post comments for further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Driveing at normal speed and

Your car is in Limp Mode - the computer of the car has detected a major failure in it and has reduced the performance to a level deemed low enough to allow your car to be driven to the nearest dealer. Take your car to one ASAP - more you wait , bigger the damage becomes , bigger the bill to fix it.

I purchase a 1999 X

There are also possibilities like :spark plugs, the coil pack, the fuel pressure check, the fuel pump, the fuel filter, the injectors etc etc,if this all this check out then yes its the ECM - the electronic control module problem. 1) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack. 2) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

3) Get the fuel pressure checked. If its less then its quite possible that fuel pump needs to be replaced and fuel filter is got clogged.

2001 Jaguar XJ8, filled up

I strongly suggest u NOT rule out fuel as the cause I think your reasoning is flawed, poor fuel quality can cause some cylinders to misfire and some not, suggest you purge the tank and refill it and purge all the fuel out of the lines, have 35 years of experience and have seen this many times over the decades, as a professional i see it as very odd this all started after filling the tank, don't U?

My 1999 v8 sports jaguar

It's tedious, but start checking the wiring, two wires are touching somewhere or the ground is bad. Sounds like a engine ground, or a crossed wire. One connecter might be plugged in backwards making a self engerizeing circuit.
I would go over every connection and check the 2 engine grounds.

The ignition switch may be closed. This should open when the key turns the switch off to open the circuit.
the fact that you can remove the key indicates that the electrical portion of the ign switch is faulty.
If the ign switch is good and the lockbarrel is fine then the ign switch is being bypassed or shorted(hot wired).
If you can remove the key without switching to off, then the mechanism is badly worn in the lock barrel.
make sure the starter circuit is wired correctly as the bypass may be at its terminals.
