2005 GMC Canyon Regular - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My GMC Canyon won't start with neew battery, Next Day or week it will not start?
When battery voltage is lost, sometimes there are some modules that may need to be reprogrammed? It could effect your security system, where applicable. I don't know model year?
If it cranks good but won't start, make sure battery has a full charge. Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. Also, check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Find out what your missing, if anything?
2005 gmc canyon computer not ready and not reading codes
If the check engine light was on DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's should be stored . If the light was on , disconnecting the battery won't do anything . Diagnostic's need to be done . Sounds like you have no clue , so best advice , take it to a qualified repair shop .

08 canyon, keeps blowing 15 amp ign fuse
What is engine liter size? Does it blow with key on or do you have to start it? Most of the circuits for that fuse goes to ignition coils, coil on plug ignition. Could be a faulty coil or shorted wiring circuit, somewhere?
There was one other circuit, seems to go to control side of ac compressor relay, just for testing, you could unplug the relay, I doubt we'll get that lucky?
With key off, unplug ignition coil do an ohms test on coil primary terminals, I'm not talking about the wiring harness connector, the coil, itself. Look for the readings to be close to the same, if one is way different than the others, that coil could be faulty? Any applicable trouble codes?
How do I tune it up?

My blend door will not open.
Either your actuator got stuck or has gone bad. Or your divider on the dash could be the problem. I would take it off the actuator before messing with the dash. And see if you can spin by hand or turn it. Unlock it and hope it is just stuck. Noemally I remove them then in my hand I connect the conector and turn the key on and turn my divider on the dash and see if it turns after I manually make it turn. If it works cool it could have been stuck. Good luck.
My blend door will not function on my 2005 gmc canyon.
Looks like you might have to manually and disconnect the rod and turn it yourself or just unplug it and try to spin it by hand. If you cannot turn by hand then remove the bolts and turn it by hand then reinstall and see if it works. They do get stuck something or it just might be your switch climate divider on the dash. Good luck
Locked out by antitheft on 2008 canyon
Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it recieves the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hotwire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistantly for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizor". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizor". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. There is a lot of info on this site that you can read up on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
Stalls and stops
Check your fuel pressure you could have a leak and your loosing pressure when you take your foot off the accelerate or peddle if it starts hard after stall suspect pressure regulator leak or bad vacuum or injection leak inside manifold
Disconnected battery and now won't start locked out 2008 canyon
Turn ignition to on position for 10 minutes , do not crank it . Do this three times then turn key all the way off then your theft lock should be reset .
Be sure to make sure battery is fully charged or hook battery charger on low to maintain battery while doing this process
Car will start but will not go into gear
If the vehicle was running fine before, you've most likely got a transmission fluid leak. Start your car, put it in reverse then drive, then back to reverse and up to park. Leave the vehicle running. Pop the hood and check the transmission fluid, I'm sure you will find it's either low, or you've blown a pressure hose and lost all the fluid. I hope this helps.
4wd lights are not on
!st of all, I really hope you are NOT driving on dry pavement with your 4x4 engaged. 2nd if you're trying to engage the 4x4 and your getting the service 4x4 light, it's telling you that it will not engage the 4x4. Hook up a code reader to your ECU and find out what's up. More than likely if you have the push button 4x4, your servo motor to engage the 4x4 is not working. If you're mechanically inclined buy a service manual and dig in, if not take it to the GM dealer before it becomes totally FUBARED
