2008 Ford Fusion 2.3. Mine has 3 x o2 sensors, what does the middle one do?

Hello again :>D Question edited to add maker and complete the year. Question moved to model category. If you have California emissions, then you will have 3 sensors. If you are getting a P0420 code, you can try changing the upstream sensor first. If you still get a P0420 code, then you will have to replace the manifold/catalytic convertor. https://www.google.com/search?q=2008+Ford+Fusion+2.3.+Mine+has+3+x+o2+sensors ..

Transmission shop damaged axle during replacement. Wants me to pay half. Thoughts?

They should pay for the parts (they broke it). You should pay for the labor. I think that is fair. You would have had to pay for the labor anyway to remove and replace the part. Good luck!

The wire shielding going to solenoid A is slightly damaged. What sort of shifting problems could this cause?

Shouldn't cause any problems. If A isn't working you wouldn't have 1st or 2nd gear. It would want to start in third, then go to OD. Most newer cars will go in limp mode and be in 2nd. Have the codes read.

How do u tell which thermostat housing u have

Its as simple as looking at it. If you have the thermostat housing with the sensor than there will be a sensor mounted on top of the housing and there will be a connector attached to the sensor. If you have the one without the sensor than there will be no sensor and no connector. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jeremy_d728a59f986299fa

Over heats when driven and not standing still, why?

There are a few probable causes but my best guess is that you have a stopped up radiator. At an idle, the engine isn't working so id doesn't generate much heat. The harder the engine works, the more heat it generates. The heat has to go somewhere, so the radiator is designed to dissipate the heat by air flowing by the cooling fins which are attached to the tubes which carry the coolant through it. As a radiator gets older and it is not maintained, it is quite common for the tubes in the center of the radiator to become restricted or even clogged. This means that the only part of the radiator which is actually working, is the outer portion which is not that effective because most of the air flow is designed to go towards the center of the radiator. There are places which can flush radiators but they are not very effective when a radiator gets to the stage you are describing. The flushing of a radiator is a preventative maintenance service to eliminate a problem like yours from occurring. Odds are you are going to have to replace your radiator. One other probability while rather unlikely, would be a rather large obstruction keeping the air from flowing through the radiator.
