Make sure that the transmission is properly full and add a good transmission treatment fluid like Lucas. Someone at autozone or an auto parts store should be able to steer you in the right direction.

as this a uk car the easiest way to diagnose the problem is to take it into quickfit for a diagnostic check(cost a little,but infinately easier.)and if you want them to fix any problem you cant handle its already in thier workshop(last time i did this was on an astra estate 1.6 petrol,problem was down to faulty exhaust sensor saved me hours of "fun"cost me £38 total.....)

Hi, This cause could be related to many factors. It could be as simple as spark plug replacement and/or air cleaner replacement. Fuel filter replacement also. How many miles are on this vehicle? What engine maintenance has been performed recently. is this vehicle still under warranty??? Thanks in advance.

are the rings back in propperly ?? Is the crank shaft to its lowest point? is the rods getting caught in the journal or hitting the crank shaft ??

here are the steps to reinsert the pistons

• turn the rings 180 degrees with the openings on the ends where the wrist pins are located on the piston
• lubricate the pistons really good with oil, make sure oil gets around the rings and on the sides of the pistons
• lubricate the cylinder walls with lots of oil as well
• Install piston ring compressor and tighten to pull rings back into piston.
• Install the connecting rod bearings and lubricate.
• Rotate the crankshaft to the lowest part of it's stroke (you might need to do this for each piston your inserting) This will allow you to put on the connecting rods caps and tighten the bolts/or nuts.
• Insert piston into the cylinder that the crank shaft is at its lowest in
• Using the handle of a hammer, tap and push the piston downward towards the crankshaft. Using the other hand to guide the connecting rod around the journal of the crankshaft
• Install the connecting rod caps and torque to specification and you are done!

Hi, the transmission will have to come out, so labour will be a fair bit, the thrust bearing won't cost too much, it may be a worn input shaft bearing in the trans too, this can be checked/fixed while it's out, hope this helps :)

Your brake light comes on to warn you that it's almost time for your brake pads to be changed. If it's coming on and staying on take it to be checked by technician could just need to be adjusted. Have had problems with this before. Am car buff do not charge for what i know. Sviguerias@ yahoo.com

if you lift off the fuse/relays cover then turn it over fords normally have plan of fuses+amps of each and also relays embossed on the underside of cover ?

Just incase you didn't already know, some pistons turn clockwise to go back in and others can be pushed in if you remove brake cylinder cap and use big C-clamp and a block of wood can also help. Sometimes slower is better when pushing the pistons back in. I usually remove master cylinder cap and slowly push in or turn in.

No a C clamp is pretty common. You should be able to push it in, make sure the emergency brake is not on while your doing this. You may also need to use a larger C clamp..

common problem on those is one of the linkage arms fall off because it needs a new retaining clip, the fun is try to open the door, some have a small door or panel, if you remove it you can rehook linkage or use screw driver to push latch release lever to open gate hope this helps,

Rear struts are quite simple even for the amateur . Try to remove them one at a time and follow the same procedure in reverse to refit. If in doubt buy a workshop manual CD for a couple of quid.
