You can just remove the switch and join the wires together behind the switch to simulate the switch is perminantly on. And use the key as usual. If it is a post market isolator system you would need to re how it is installed and reverse the processes

Hook up a scan tool and check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes before you jump to any conclusions an start to just replace parts. If it is a VSS vehicle speed sensor issue would set a code and turn on the check engine light. Other things can cause this.

I have a scanner that does this for domestic vehicles, I do them for free. Just for extra work, the harder jobs. I work at a shop that can't, but they want to charge and not give me anything , so I don't do it for them. Some garages have them though. But dealer is the most likely spot. Usually around $50.

If you follow that wire around you'll find the relay and fuse under the pump motor if I remember correctly however the hard pedal is almost always caused by a failed vacuum booster or the vacuum line between the engine intake and the booster, you don't have to disconnect the master cylinder brake lines to change the booster.
