2006 BMW 530i Sedan - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Well I can't be sure here but I would look in the fuse panel under the hood most vehicles have several relays in the fuse panel and this includes horn, fuelpump, wipers, and sometimes HVAC blower motor. (box) there's a cover that snaps on over it. Hope this helps. Bob

Not my expertise, but if the battery has been replaced you will have to go to a dealer.Then your car talks to Stutgart or Nurenburg and speaks some binary language. The dealer will charge to a crazy fee and it will work until you need another battery. You can avoid this nonsense by purchasing an adaptor that plugs in the cigarette (oh my gosh xxxx) lighter and uses a 9v battery. If it is the same old battery, I just wasted 5 minutes of your time.

The brain is telling you it thinks the engine is due for a service. Mostly this can be ignored if the engine has been serviced but it is reckoned some management systems reduce the power output of the engine if the brain continues thinking it needs a service. While some service indicators can be reset fairly easily, I seem to remember the BMW needs dedicated diagnostic equipment to reset it.

Replace tumbler.

Hi DK the relay that powers to boot motor release is in the boot section of fuses and relays, it is number F53 relay hope that helps

does it happen more if it has rained......water ingress into the lcm in near side kick panel iirc usually gives these symptons. check all eaths are secure, usually a cluster point just behind the glove box

has the aux belt come off or have you checked the power steering res.?

Have you checked if there is a spark ? Have the OBD2 scanned for any fault codes to help diagnose the issue

Could be an open fuse

The starter relay sits in a relay panel above the glove compartment. You have to remove the glove box and drop it down. The relay panel looks like a white storage tray, and it has 4 relays in it - a tall black one in the back, and three short white ones in front. The starter relay is the short white one furthest to the left.

M54 is interference fit.

sensor 1 is in the exhaust manifold attached to the engine

It must be obvious that the system has either a shorted wire or some component in the system, it is a tough job to track down these shorts in a system, that goes 2X for German monsters. I suggest you have a professional look at this or join a BMW forum and ask if other owners have had this issue, I have never seen this problem on a BMW until this one you posted
