Did you check the fuel pump and fuel filter? It could be that the fuel pump is bad or the fuel filter is clogged.

Please try another bulb before you go for something else. Many times happened to me even the new bulb not working. Advice: just remove the good bulb of brake light you have on driver's side and try it on the passenger side. If it works,surely another bulb. If not,ask for an Electrician to help.

Spark comes from the coils. Which gets a signal from the computer which comes from the cam and crank sensors. If the cam is not turning or a part is broken and the computer won't send a signal to the coils it wont fire. Throttle is for fuel and air mix.

check the basics first. Fuel pressure - there is a shrader (sp?) valve on the fuel rail on the engine where you can check that. Check if there is spark - pull on of the coils and put in a spark plug and crank. It can also be the ignition switch but check the two things above and then you will know where to look for the problem

I have noticed when the oil is changed, there is a splash/skid plate near the drain plug and old oil may collect on top of that plate, then drip down later. Worth a look.

are the pluged in correctly? if yes then coil pack is faulty. they are common problem on bmw

there is a valet switch that can lock the tailgate , just check for it in the passenger glove box . make sure it's not activated or disconnected.

First thing you need to do is to have the car scanned with a engine malfunction light scanner . then you'll get a engine trouble code. even if the check engine light shuts off for sure you'll get a pending code witch is a code that was seen but could be not present at the time you scan the car. depending on what is the code then search on google for bmw engine trouble code list and repair procedures. to find out what codes meens go to that link http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/bmw/.

Sometimes the computer takes over the car. Have you tried to reset, by disconnecting the negative cable on the battery for a few minutes to reset. That doesn't always work but, worth a try. Some sensors might also be missing from the changed tranny. Hope this helps.

Blue smoke is caused by oil. Rich running causes black smoke and will set the check engine light. Rich running (black smoke) on startup could be caused by a leaking injector. The blue smoke puff at startup is likely valve stem seals leaking or a bad crank case vent malfunction and sucking oil into the manifold at high vacuum conditions.
