Can anyone please help me.i have the 1.6 gls j2 elantra.the car is using alot of fuel.what should i do to better the fuel usage?
First....Do you keep regular maintenance up on the car? For example do you have the oil changed regularly? There are a host of things that should be done to keep fuel mileage to its best. Tire inflation to proper settings (look on the door jam drivers door. a sticker will tell you proper PSI for your cars tires) Fuel filter change , air filter change, PCV valve, tune up, are all things that need to be done to keep your car running at its best. What mileage are you getting now? How many miles are on the car now?
Engine tune up
you must read your owner manual for indication how many miles do you will take the tune up. Download from

A lot of suggestions - however It could be one of numerous problems - worn sincro ring - however they would all be above your capacity to fix - consult a reputable auto shop - you need someone that knows what they are talking about to physically look at the car to solve the problem - this will save you a lot of time and expense and heartache. ?
Hi there i have elantra 1.8 broke the cam belt.
Hyundai engines are interference engines so you will have valve damage. before you attempt to do the job get yourself a workshop manual as these engines do not have torque settings but use degrees on an angle setting for the head studs. The manual will explain the timing mark settings and all the details you will need.
