Are you in USA, and what year car? all cars have special steps.that is why they make the FSM.this is a long story,I recommend you buy , barrow , rend the book, its all thereand only 15 saw bucks.and a special discount too... (best scan tools on earth too.)
http://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html\Ill now post the generic.drain it.and refill the RAD. to the top, and burp all the air outthis burping is skill and varies by engine. i will not post this long list of ways and tricks, then when burped dry of all air pockets.start car and burp again, with rad cap off.when the fluid AF starts to get warm it expands and thenoverfills the cap, now we know there is no air inside.I then do 2 , cold .hot, cold engine cycles to make sure all air is out. then fill the overflow tank 1/2 fill and keep that that way for about 3 days of looking. every day, no air allowed,if the exp. take drops every morning, cold, you are getting more air out, add more AF to side tank until it stabilizes.all cars. with he exceptions stated in the FSM link above.never work on any engine with no access to the FSM.or the link. for safety reasons and for warnings in the book.and special steps.RTM and win.
