2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Page 3 Questions & Answers
WHY is it that my 2011 Jeep Cherokee Won't start (ETC light comes on)
skim
did you read the operators guide, yet, it tells you what the dash lamps mean on all cars made.
ETC ,means, electronic throttle control , that lamp means its BAD.
op man.. page 270
says what/?
it says get it serviced..
http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/
ill quote that
If the light remains lit with the engine running, your
vehicle will usually be drivable. However, see an authorized
dealer for service as soon as possible. If the light is
flashing when the engine is running, immediate service is
required and you may experience reduced performance,
an elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle
may require towing. end quote.
if the question was why is it bad, im a DIY guy,?
then read the FSM, get it and read it and do all steps in the manual.
first you scan the PCM for ETC errors and such.
then do the steps it says for each error.
this path , works on all cars made.
How do you replace drl light on driver side
hay my man you are gona have to remove the air filter to get to 1 of them its not that hard m8 as for the other 1z turn your wheel inwards either side and you should see a round cover behind your guard and turn to remove it then replace your bulbs p.s you should really change them all as they tend to get dimmer after a while thats about it m8 hope this helps ya

do tell, please. (point and say , I say this here)>>>>>> X
Iod fuse
Unlikely, because anything associated with a phone button would not draw enough power to require a fuse. What is probably happening is either of three things. A loose wiring harness in the steering column, the actual switch has failed due to dirt or excessive use, or the circuit board that aggregates all of the switches from the steering wheel into a harness is cracked or has a bad solder joint.
Radio not working
sounds to me like the radio lost its pass word code.
(or a power amp fuse is blown)
check fuses. , this time. more carefully.
some radios go to now amp mode, will tune but are in pass word mode.
if you drain the battery , this happens everytime.
oldest story in the world this.....
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/obtaining-anti-theft-radio-code-1350588/
if all power pins on the radio have 12vdc and if radio has external amp
there are like 4 or 5 radio options on new jeeps.
so if it has an external amp,it too has power pins, if they have 12vdc
then the fuse is not blown. (the fsm shows the wiring and fuses, read the FSM)
if the radio is still dead, it can be the radio code issue.
if the fuses are good , its Jeep dealer time.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, check engine light was on and I had no cruise control or remote start. Service recommended replacing the Brake Pedal Switch. The part is on order and now the engine light is
new cars do that. if the engine is not right, it cancels features.
Think of Toyota;s that drive themselves.....sad.
the CEL means, scan me, nothing else needs to be done yet.
except check all fuses.
yes, all things electrical can be intermittent.
imagine a switch with dirty contacts..
i have an 08 JK, and carry a full scan tool in my micro trunk
and a memory stick with full FSM on it. (boy scout ready)
SCAN it. on cars this complex (mine has 16 computers , yours more)
we must scan it. too much to miss. (count the connections, ouch)
and intermittants can only be found that way, period !
(i have tools that allow me to monitor any signal and log them but
you dont,) so get a scan tool , plug it in and capture the DTC errors
or you will never find it. (baring good guessing)
the SERVICE guy saw no , DTCs right? I got the car CEL out.?
you took the car to him and he had to guess. right?
he had no other choice if true.
btw, his guess is good guess. better than most.
the tool costs less than 1hr, shop labor.
buy one.
the tool has pay back, and is investment grade ! I promise.
