this sounds like something is draining the battery like a bad alternator. if you install a new battery the car will run until the car drains the battery due to a bad alternator or bad wiring, these cars are all electronic so without a good battery you cant open door or start, take a look at battery and if it is low or dead again then have the charging system checked.

What car? Year, make and model? Some cars and trucks have a cable to the throttle plate and some do not. If it has a cable make sure it is not broken if it just idles when you push it. If it has cable check the TPS sensor. If it does not have cable it could be the foot pedal itself or the stepper motor which controls the flow of air and fuel.
