Happy days! For X1 you need to turn engine on and use the scroller on the indicator stalk to get the reset indicator, then hold the BC button on the end of the stalk for 5 secs. I had to do it twice but prob solved.Believe it or not, it's in the owners' manual...

My BMW X1 shut off
The fuel sender unit could be faulty. It says 1/4 tank even though it is almost empty. Carry a jerry can of gas in the back , and run it down to 1/4 or less to see if the problem repeats itself.
The gas guage and trip computer are only as accurate as the float in the tank.

How can I get the HDC to turn off in my 2002 bmw x5?
To turn off HDC on a BMW, all you have to do is press the HDC button located on the center console. The button will have an image of a vehicle going downhill with a speedometer above it, and you'll know it's off if there are no lights illuminated above it. If you ever want to turn the system on again, just press the button again.

2003 BMW X5 4.4 no crank no start
Check the basics first. Is battery fully charged? This is the most common reason for a no crank, no start. What exactly does it do when you turn the key? Nothing at all, no lights, no 'click' as you turn the key. A slow lazy crank?
