Tempeture gauge goes to quater way and stops
Would venture a guess at a bad thermostat or a bad gauge. Easiest test is to check the heat output from the heater on a cold day. When placed on the highest setting, is it hot or just lukewarm? If it doesn't get hot, it's probably a stuck thermostat or one of too low a setting for the climate you are in.
Incidentaly, doe the gauge go higher whan the weather is warmer? If so, there is likely nothing wrong with the gauge but again points to the thermostat.
Good luck.
