2013 Toyota Highlander - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
2016. Why can't radio and dash lights turn off?
When you removed the battery, your Highlander decided it was being stolen. After the new battery was installed, the vehicle can't confirm you are the owner using your key. It is all part of the anti-theft provisions.

Have a 2012 Toyota Highlander. When car is started for the first time on any given day, the radio works fine. If car is turned off, the next time the car is started, the radio will not come on.
I recently tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my jcb 3cx site-master. It would'nt move forward or reverse, engine was good both solenoids for
forward and reverse worked, but still couldn't diagnose the problem.
I don't have much technical knowledge but I just followed it step-wise, and now it works perfect! covers wiring, diagrams, torque specs, PCV, everything
got it from

2013 Toyota Highlander. Key fob remote doesn't work after installing new battery. It is not a smart key remote.
PROCEDURE. Make SURE the battery you installed is good.
- Driver's door open, key removed from ignition switch
- Within 5 seconds: Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice
- Within 40 seconds: Close and open driver's door twice
- Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch. Close and open driver's door twice
- Insert the key into the ignition switch and close the driver's door
- Within 40 seconds: Switch ignition ON and OFF once to program a remote transmitter code whilst retaining the original codes or twice to program and remote transmitter code whilst erasing the original codes. Three times to check how many remote transmitter are currently registered or five times to erase all registered codes
- Remove key from ignition switch. System should now lock and unlock vehicle once, twice or five times depending which mode has been selected. One to four times, slowly, to indicate number of remote transmitters registered
- Within 40 seconds: Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
- Within 3 seconds: Press LOCK button
- SYstem should now lock and unlock vehicle once to confirm registration, twice to indicate registration has failed
- Within 40 seconds: Repeat button procedure to program remaining remote transmitters.
- NOTE: To exit programming mode: Open driver's dorr
- NOTE: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed
If the above programming procedures do not work, then you should contact your locksmith.
Goood Luck!

I plugged in an inverter
The inverter caused a short circuit , the insulation on the lighter socket is earthed out or a cable is burnt and earthed out , disconnect the lighter cable, and check if shorted , if not work back to the ignition switch till you find it.

Toyota highlander 2007 hybird VSC check light on due to change spark plugs
The first thing you need to do is to get the computer scanned to see what diagnostic codes are stored then go from there, there are way to many things that can trigger the check engine light to guess what it may be and waste time trying to fix a problem that may or may not be correct so go to a shop or some autoparts store with the car and have then connect a code reader or buy one and do it yourself.
