Sounds like you have a bad converters you need to check data stream and see if your down stream 02 sensors are working frist.

Your throttle position sensor (TPS) is bad.

Check if your speedo counter is mechanical the is the cable either broken on the gear box side or behind the dash. If is an electronic one then check the electronic speed sensor on the gear box. Good Luck Emma !

In most case's the vehicle will stall but won't continue to run or just a flat no start the crank sensor tell the computer the firing order and when to firer where the cam or distributor sensor tell the computer where number one cylinder is note that the crank sensor my hold both sensor in one. If you had a distributor less car it can affect both fuel and ignition system where as if you have a distributor it would more likely affect the fuel system only. I have seen bad sensor that just made for a poor run and low power do to a bad out put signal to the computer. Check it with a scope for a clean signal back to the computer.

2 things here, using oil & white smoke,
1. i would use a product made by seaform called motor tune-up, you can get at napa,autozone or kragen, pour contents in oil and drive normal, this product is real good been using over ten years it will clean all the carbon around the rings & pistons and also clean lifters,sludge in motor, run in for about 3 weeks then change oil stuff costs about $ 9.00
2. White smoke out exhaust is either automatic transmission fluid from transmission or slight head gasket problem
