down stream o2 is useless as only fronts trim fuel., for get down stream worry that last or next year or never. only smog man needs working rear o2.s low power has man cause,ever try fresh spark plugs.? no p03xx codes then plugs will be ok (kinda but 24year old plugs. that P017x code lean is truth. I bet and is low fuel pressure, bad FPR, they mostly dont last 24 years, PFR. VIN X car engine 3.0L gas,. fuel pressure spec is. 44..2, to 54.2. 3.9 still has that old distributor there, so add cap,rotor wire sets HV. and spark plugs none of those cap on last 24 years ever so. but no code p03xx so is lost power and is not misfiring so FPR is next is set at 49 psi. calibrated in the factory and no vacuum there. it says filter and FPR are all in one. step 6 fpr says he fuel pressure filter/regulator assembly is located on the top of the fuel pump assembly. It is not necessary to remove the fuel pump to remove the pressure filter/regulator assembly. Matchmark the direction the hose fitting points. Unit must be reinstalled pointing in the same direction. we test it to see if it fails. FPR at the rail and let the chip fall where they may. (reality)

Make sure that the ground wires from the battery to the frame and body are clean and tight. Look for any wire connections that get wet and loose power.

First make sure that the bulb is good and has a good ground. Check the terminals to see if there is a power source and a good ground connection. If no power source, trace the wires back toward the power source for a bad connection or broken wires.

The small vacuum line should go to a vacuum nipple on the intake manifold.

In your passenger side floorboard looking at your blower motor there should be a little small rectangular piece that's held in by two screws and with a wiring harness that has I think, I'm not exactly sure but I think four wires just to the left of your blower motor. I could be wrong but I'm going off of memory here.

No it has to be something simple. An engine only needs three things to run. Fuel and you know you have that. Compression. A spark at the right time. Check for spark, check for codes. The compression can't have changed.

If the pump is ticking or making any noise other than a smooth whirring sound, it's bad and needs to be replaced, the fact that the pump makes noise usually means the relay is working. I hope this helps. Take Care.

On top of the a/c compressor.

I'm assuming you're just going to splice into the tail light wiring so that's what these wire colors are:
at the tail lamp 3 way connector:
black and yellow = park lamp
dark green and brown = left turn signal
there should be another connector with violet and black wire for reverse lights.
the stop lights are turned on through the turn signal circuits.

All the diagrams I see for the 3.9 show the same. However, some show a 60 degree advance in orientation of the cap, i.e. the number 1 position is at number 2. Try moving the wires counter clockwise one position. If you began with a non running engine, I suggest you manually bar over the crankshaft until cylinder 1 is at TDC of the compression stroke. Then remove the distributor cap. The rotor should be pointing directly at distributor tower number 1 position.

The first model Dakota was 1987, and I don't think it had a crankshaft position sensor. It did have an ECM and a distributor pickup coil (sometimes called a camshaft position sensor).
