My wife say sshe sees a message saying coolant

well, i would say to check coolant level. you do not want to drive it, and cause problems. make sure coolant is at proper level. that is how much coolant is in system 71% out of 100%. let car get cool before adding anti freeze to engine. have a good one !!

The steering wheel and ignition on my 2009cobalt

Your steering wheel needs to be pulled hard either right or left to turn the key. Tug the steering wheel in one direction hard over and see if key will turn. If not try the other way.

Ignition switch stuck in on

You either have a bad key and tumbler or the electrical part of the switch is bad. To check the easiest way is to disconnect the electrical switch from the bottom of the steering column. When you do this unbolt it from the column and see if the key turns. If it does the electrical part needs replaced, if not the key and tumbler need replaced. Only try to do this if you have patience since once the electrical switch is unbolted you will have to readjust when reinstalling and if you have never done this it can take some time.

When in gear and driving. The transmission drops

what is the mileage on your car? and how much abuse does the car get? this is indicative of internal transmission damage, if you can you should take it to you local chevy dealership, or a trusted mechanic because this is highly technical work. unless you feel like taking your transmission apart yourself, in that case here is whats wrong. 1. your transmission linkage is out of adjustment due to either abuse or some parts are worn, or 2. or your transmission output shaft pilot bearing is damaged, causing excessive play and "Batting" your lever out of gear.

1996 chevy cobolt 6 cyl.

It sounds like you have a fuel issue or spark issue. Pull your spark plugs and see how they look. If they look fine then test the fuel pump. You could try to run to fuel system cleaner through the fuel system and see if there is an improvement in idle. Could be any of the following problems,

coil
spark plugs
spark plug wires
fuel filter
fuel pump
injectors
air filter

Check the easy stuff like plugs, wires fuel pump and air filter first.
