The security icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. check your codes first as it can be a number of things.

It sound like you have a bad ground, what will happen if this is the case is you put you key in the ignition and turn to run "not starting the engine" and everything is on and bright, when you try to turn the engine over it will click once "just when the key hits the start position" and everything will shut off lights and all. if you take the key out and do it again it will produce the same results. on the positive battery cable under back seat is a red device with small orange and bule wires called a thermister controls alt output.this device is no longer availible from gm good news is you can buy a resistor of 1600 ohms from radio shack for lees than a dollar plug it in to connector instead of the thermistor and chargeing goes back to normal. radio, windows ,cruise, control should go back normal also

Hard to say.The codes in the 100 and 300 range could be fuel related, but you would have to check the specific codes one at a time to find out.

The computer is tired or you need a sensor or two are not acceptable answers. Its possible he damaged something by lifting the car.I would take it somewhere that can scan the computer for trouble codes and see what has failed. The computer stores codes when the warning lights are on. Once you know what the codes are you can figure out if it is something he may have done.

Take the car to a shop and have the cooling system pressure tested, that way the technician can ID the location of the leak which i think is a defective radiator hose from what you said.
