It depends on the current mileage your car has. I would replace them just in case with approved by MB fluids.

Go to Advance Auto or Auto Zone and ask them to read the error codes. Then lookup those codes on the Internet or post them on https://mbworld.org/

Check the glow plugs and replace if needed.

Have the vehicle scanned for error codes.

I had the same problem with 1999 E300 TD 6-cylinder in-line engine. The problem was the o-ring on the pre-filter. Make sure all o-rings are tight and try putting small amount of silicone grease when installing them.

Check the starter.

Check the electrical connector for the transmission and the conductor plate inside the transmission.

Try disconnecting the battery fro a minute, reconnect and enter the code on the radio.

Does the key rotates when inserted in the ignition or it is not moving at all? Does the car cranks and start at all? If it doesn't you need the key reprogrammed by a more knowledgeable technician, not just a locksmith.

check/replace fuse number 44.

You are either not getting fuel or the crankshaft position sensor has failed. on some mercedes the fuel pump will not run if the computer does not see rpm. so the easiest and cheapest attempt to repair is replacing the crankshaft position sensor. it is located at the back of the engine near the transmission bell housing.

Did you check you crank position sensor?

It's part of the transmission valve body

Unplug the me on top of the engine check connectors then reconnect

If it's an OEM radio Mercedes should have the code.. If it was replaced see if you can find the dealer that did the maintenance. It If you have the VIN# IT SHOULD LET THEM COME UP WITH THE SERIAL # AND HENCE THE CODE NUMBER.

If the fuses good and you get power to the switch the problem is the switch,all the best.
