Should you flush or change your transmission fluid on a 2005 Lincoln LS with 125,000 miles?
I would recommend the flush due to all of the fluid is pushed out with new fluid so it should push the old out with the new . I've never flushed one and it cause to stsrt slipping . If you have metal shavings on the clutches you may need to do a clutch replacement and you may be smelling a burnt clutch . It's smells awful like rurnt eggs or something awful . I would definitely look into where the shaving are from and if it's gonna keep hitting whatever it's hitting before I replaced the fluid . Trans fluid I cheap and if you change it and shavings is still generating then you wasted your money on the fluid change..

I have a 2000 lincoln Ls V8 3.9.. The coolant boils, i relpaced the water pump as well as the thermostat. What causes the coolant to boil??
1st, test the water pump and make sure with the belt off, that it turns freely now that you've installed it. Sometimes the impeller is not pressed on completely, and these don't turn properly. Maybe you did this but just in case: Always free spin anything installed , IE: water pump, oil pumps, alternator, generators, camshafts, crankshafts, etc., before moving to the next step.2nd. Verify the belt installation. With today's serpentine belts, a wrong turn may cause the pump to run backwards, but seem correct. There should be a specific diagram under the hood or on the fender.3rd. If the Belt's OK, Pump's OK, and you have properly installed the new Thermostat. (I have seen them installed upside down and they won't work that way.) If you filled it properly, making sure it was 100% full, then you may be dealing with a blown head gasket, cracked head, or a cracked cylinder wall.I hope this helps & good luck!
2001 Lincoln LS engine locked up. I had a
To start - its probably worth more to put a used engine in than to junk the car. Normally a dealer is the right choice for a second opinion, but you may want to get a third. I know it will not be free, but the story you are getting from the shop sounds fishy. Changing a coil would not cause the engine to lock up, and I've never heard of being able to see a problem on the outside of an engine unless it has a connecting rod sticking out.I would want to know why the engine seized, and if it can be fixed before you consider replacing it.

It might be the alternator that has gone bad and needs to be replaced and it could be a problem with the alternator too.
