Lexus RX 300 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support - Page 9
For a 2000 Lexus RX300, the windows all work when controlled from the drivers seat, but won't work from other doors. I've tried turning the master window control switch on and off...any ideas?
You have a bad ground wire somewhere; probably right off the drivers side door. It may be difficult to locate because all the window switches are wired to the master control switch on the driver side door. I often find the wire breaks somewhere in the conduit between the door and the dash. All the opening and closing of the door damages the wire, particularly when the wire doesn't have any room to flex. Once you find it and bypass the broken connection all the switches will work. Start with the connections on the switch and work your way to the dash. You probably can find a good YouTube video that can show you how it's done. A multimeter will be very useful checking the continuity of the wires. I like to disconnect the switches in both the driver and passenger doors. I will then use a piece of wire to bridge the connections on (passenger) door connector, or ground out to the vehicle body. You can use the multimeter probes on the driver side connector to find the broken connection without tracing the whole wire harness. There should only be one hot wire that is supplied with power on the drivers side connector. Use the multimeter to find the hot wire first, using the vehicle frame as the ground, and then ignore it. Once you find the color of the wire that's broken you can just follow it along the wire harness till you find the break.
Why do my taillights not work when I turn my light switch on all the way
the car has tail lights
the correct name is PARK because there are many park lights not just 2 i there rear.(like days of old) Tail word is obsolete today.
no problem but is key fact to diagnosis, (20 odd lights and complex)
check all park lights, even the front.
are all dead, and side mark lights (if opted)
and license plate light
and all dash parking lamps called , Dimable Illumination.
check fuses yet, (test them)
Does it have a non interferance engine
not sure but I will say this. most timing sets should be changed every 75 to 100k miles. its cheaper to change the belts and water pump then to pull the motor and spend thousands on 10 dollar bent valves
CAUSE OF BROKEN CRANKSHAFT
broke the crank. that is not easy to do. you got a piston that locked up or there was a major problem when they made the crank. crankshaft broke where? I seen them break at the end where its close to the transmission and that's from beating on the car to much. most times something else will break before the crank. you will have to pull the motor apart to find the real reason.
2002 RX 300
I have a 2001 RX 300 and mine has done the same thing. The first time it happened the dealer had me bring it in. It was under warranty, and they replaced something, which I can't remember. Then it happened a year or so ago, and the service rep at the dealership told me that her car does the same thing, and I should just let it reboot itself in a day or so. It did it two days ago driving back from a long trip. The service rep said to bring it in because she didn't know what was going on (I think she was new).
It's now resolved itself again. It must be a fluke with the model, but I don't worry about it.
