As I am driving the

What you have is commonly called death wobble. It can be really scary.
Common cause is usually worn ball joints but it can also be caused by a variety of other things...Improperly torqued wheels. steering box tearing off of the chassis, track bar mount or bushing problems or a combination of slight looseness in all steering components giving overall excessive wheel play. The steering damper (sideways shock on linkage) is often blamed but they generally fail as a result of the wobble and are not the cause. If everything has checked carefully and can be verified as good, sometimes adding some positive alignment caster past factory setting can help.

I have my harmonic balancer set at 0 and the no.

take off the distributor cap and look at the rotor. with the engine set the way you have it, the rotor should either be pointing to the block or the right front headlight. (In the general direction).
If it is pointing towards the engine turn the crank one more complete turn and it should point towards the light. Make a mark on the outside housing of the distributor exactly where the rotor points. Put the cap back on and the tower for #1 ignition wire should line up with the mark you made. If it is a 4.0 or four cylinder, there is no distributor adjustment (the computer adjusts timing) So, if the rotor is not lined up with the wire tower, you will need to remove the distributor and turn it one or more teeth in the direction you need to go and then repeat the alignment process again.

The fuel pump doesnt shut

Hi! It may not be the fuel float. I suspect that you have a faulty carb. Some o-rings may be worn thats why its leaking. You may need a carb kit replacement to correct this and see if it will still leak. Hope this helps and good luck!

Power loss & Fouling Plugs on an 75' IH Scout

Sounds like you are on the right track, except that the vacuum advance won't give you the radical symptoms you have. I'd take the carb apart and clean it out. likely the power valve is gummed up and could also be the needle & seat are worn. Make sure you find a good rebuild kit before taking it apart though...the gaskets are likely dried out & will break.
After all this time it's possible that your float maybe sinking. I've seen this happen before. If you have one of those litle generic fuel pumps likely it cant make more than 5psi on it's best day, so I don't think it will blow the needle off the seat.
Yes...change your oil & plugs after youv'e finished and don't drive it with fuel in the oil.

2004 jeep grand cherokee died on the freeway and now just cranks but won't start

Whew! Tight spot. Here are some quick and some more involved things to check. Hopefully, another responder will pitch in. A good time to call AAA. Troubleshoot this issue step by step: Check for Spark: Crank the engine and check if there's a spark at the spark plugs or ignition coil. If you have a spark, the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) is likely not the problem. Fuel Pump Operation: When you turn the key to the "on" position (but not start), you should hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds. If you don't hear it, there might be an issue with the fuel pump or its relay. ASD Relay: The Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay controls power to essential components like the ignition coils. If the ASD relay is faulty, you won't get spark. Check and replace it if necessary. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor: Ensure that these sensors are functioning correctly. They play a crucial role in engine performance. Check the Key: If everything else checks out, consider the key itself. The chip in the key has a unique identifier code. Some replacement keys may mimic this code, so make sure your key is genuin.. Bus Line and SKIM Module: Verify the PCI bus line between the PCM/data link connector and the SKIM module. If there's an issue with communication, it could prevent the engine from starting

My interior lights on my 1998 grande cherokee jeep wont shut off

This might sound silly but have you checked the switches on the actual light fittings? They usually have three settings. Permanently Off, door controlled or permanently On. If there are no switches on the actual light fitting try pushing the lens itself at each narrow end. Some lenses rock end to end as the switch mechanism.

It was the right fix. Did you use a scan tool and reset the code after installation of the new parts? Sometimes you need to do it a couple of times. Error code P0128 indicates that your engine coolant temperature is below the thermostat regulating temperature. This means that your Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has recognized that your engine is running cooler than it's supposed to. My 02 jeep liberty dash not working. No tack, speedometer, fuel or engine temperature. Any help please

  1. Faulty Instrument Cluster: The instrument cluster itself may be defective or damaged. Over time, electronic components can degrade, leading to malfunctions.
  2. Fuse: Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the instrument cluster. A blown fuse could disrupt power to the cluster, causing all the gauges to fail simultaneously.
  3. Faulty Wiring: There could be a problem with the wiring harness or connectors that supply power and data to the instrument cluster. Loose connections or damaged wires can prevent the cluster from receiving the necessary signals.
  4. Vehicle Speed Sensor: The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is responsible for providing speed data to the instrument cluster. If the VSS malfunctions, it can cause the speedometer to stop working, and it may affect other gauges as well.
  5. Engine Control Module (ECM): The ECM communicates with the instrument cluster to provide data for various gauges. A malfunctioning ECM could disrupt communication and cause all the gauges to fail.
  6. Grounding Issues: Poor grounding can lead to electrical problems, including instrument cluster malfunctions. Ensure that all ground connections related to the instrument cluster are clean and secure.
Given the complexity of diagnosing electrical issues, it's advisable to have a qualified mechanic or automotive technician inspect your vehicle. They can use diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs. Additionally, if the issue is related to the instrument cluster itself, it may need to be repaired or replaced by a professional.

1987 Jeep dies when temperature hits 180. Then it will start up after its sits for 30 minutes.

First you will need to determine if there is a problem with the electrical system or fuel system. Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail to see if you have pressure when the vehicle dies. It it maintains pressure and the vehicle dies, then check to see if there is a spark issue. Fuel issue could be bad/weak fuel pump, bad relay or restriction in fuel delivery system. No spark could be ignition coil, bad computer, bad electrical connection or relay. To check these systems you need special meters and scanners. Best to take to a repair center.

On my 2000Jeep Cheroke Laredo: the heater fan works only intermittently, causing windows to fog up in cold temperatures

If the fan works on med but not high or low it is an indicator that the resistor has gone bad. Since the motor works sometimes, it's a pretty safe bet that the motor is good. A 12v test light will tell you if it's the switch or the resistor.

Dashboard gauge needles irratic jumping on / off / fluctuating

Found out that irratic dashboard gauge needles jumping all over the place was due to computer harness connector pins getting a little corrosive / rusty..... cured problem, over several times / applications by disconnecting harness, and spraying W\D 40 on pins (plugging in and unplugging several times), then wiping off pins and corrosiveness, and giving final light coat of W'D 40 and plugging in harness. Took a couple of times before problem disappeared over time.
