How do I replace freeze plugs?
You have to use a punch and tap on the side of the plug to turn it sideways, then you can use vise grips to pull it out. The other method is to drill a self tapping screw in the plug and use vise grips. Putting it in is a matter of finding the right diameter socket or similar size object (to use as a driving tool) and tapping it (the freeze plug) in until flush or slightly recessed. A thin coat of rtv silicone on the back side and edges of the plug is a good idea. Your number one problem is how much room you have to work with.
