Could be several things. A clogged fuel filter, a non-working fuel pump, or a defective crank (angle) sensor, for example.

A defective crank angle sensor will prevent the ECU from knowing when to injecting fuel or make spark so it won't do either! The ECU will store a code if that is the problem.

Check the fuel pressure in the fuel rail. If none, the fuel pump may not run (or the in-line fuel filter is clogged.)

Check for fuel pressure and spark. If the gas is fresh, it ought to start.

It could need fault codes erasing and defaults restoring with diagnostic equipment but the symptom you describe could equally be caused by the internal switch in one of the door catches that tells the brain the doors are closed.
If the brain doesn't receive a door closed signal from each door and the boot lid it will not allow the central door locking to operate.

I suggest you check the owner's handbook for user information and then reassure yourself all the doors are closing and correctly adjusted.
This is something freezing weather can affect.

Two possibilities. One the brake switch is bad. Press the brake pedal and see if you have brake lights. No lights replace the switch at the brake pedal. Next is the solenoid at the shifter. Most times you have to buy the entire shifter to get the solenoid.

If you can locate the actual switch that the door activates you could exercise that switch to see if it is a problem with the switch. Look in the door frame for the switch. If it is not a switch problem then you could disconnect the battery to reset the system to see if the door sign goes out.

Not sure about this ,could their be a seperate fuse for the amplifier ? or one inside it even--- have the wires broke inside the multiconnector .I have a 94 XJ sovereign and their is no amp in this model that i know of as i have had all the seats out when fitting the recovered headlining and having the front drivers seat repaired.Mine has a radio cassete in the front and a CD player in the trunk or boot in proper english .But all joking aside if it has a amp under the back seat like the big jeep thing i repair for a neighbour then providing you understand the wiring then it cannot much of a job to wire one of these in from a different car where you can get one one from a scrapyard cheaply compared to jaguar spares which are well expensive.Look on the internet for david manners jaguar spares UK ,i have found this company very good when ordering spares that are virtualy unobtainable here in spain so weither thay have a amp for your car i dont know but iam currently restoring a XJS V12 1989 for a friend and doing the paperwork to import it onto a historic plate here in spain and i can say i havent even look at the stereo to be honest.Take the amp out and ask a local TV repair man to have a have a look and the older the repair man the more experiance they will have with solid state transistor circuits and may be able to fit new output trannies if they are blown .Iam at the jaguar owners club meeting today so i will ask any owners if they know of a amp in these vehicles ,i dont know everything about every make of model of car on the road i admit it but if their is a way i can fix things i will so be a bit patient and ask around as iam sure their will be a owners club in your neck of the woods ,look on ,if you look at spain you will see me in one of the group pics iam the tall ugly one at the back ---

Did you correctly diagnose the trans problem in the first place? I think you need to get hold of the installer and see what they did or get a proper workshop manual. Have you a Jag specialist you could talk to? Or is he the one who rebuilt your trans?

depends on the model of your car, on mine (XKR) the cruise stopped working because of a faulty microswitch behind the brake pedal, there are two microswitches, one to turn on the brake lights and the other is used by the ECU to make sure you are not pressing the brake (which is the signal to cancel cruise). If that switch is faulty the car will not enter cruise mode. Hope that helps, Nick.

"Vapor lock" is a condition that occurs when fuel becomes heated to the point of evaporation. If your vehicle is truly vapor locking, it means that something hot is coming in contact with your fuel line somewhere, overheating the gasoline to the point of it vaporizing. This is HIGHLY UNLIKELY. If you truly do have a vapor lock condition, find out where the fuel is becoming heated and fix that condition.
On a 1997 Jaguar XK8, it is FAR more likely that you have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad ICU.
