Hello Eric Lovins, Your ignition switch goes directly to your BODY module and the engine control module... (with only a RELAY) in the mix... for "starting purposes only" My experience with Jaguars (magnificent vehicles) has taught me to FIRST SUSPECT RELAYS... (easy access the switches (really hard to reach... If you plan on keeping the car (mine being the last V12 Convertible they built)... I keep spare relays... HOWEVER... Control of the running (or not running) seems to be the Ignition control directly from the steering column to the BCM. Logically your Ignition switch (highly used & difficult to get to) should be most suspect... (there are also high risk of triggering logic circuits with RESULTING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT (EXPLOSIVE FORCE))... They are impressively expensive... but WERE cheaper (NEW, PAPER) than a single "visit" to one of my neighborhood JAGUAR DEALERS... (assuming all thing go well... they usually don't). While the Factory Service Manuals are collectors items themselves you might remain in convinced of their inherent value... you can use the FREE data base at BBB Industries website... (registration required) (also see Jag Lovers site below (very bottom)). I found no Technical Service Bulletins on your ignition lock (a good thing)... but in my car it would be very simple to eliminate DOWNSTREAM electronics... simply by removing the wire from the ignition (the engine should stop) You can then confidently pursue that wire into your ignition lock... My vintage vehicle has no PATS (passive anti-theft system) keys... but I will assure your life will be happier if you make SURE you have all the required keys & fobs BEFORE you get into the lock. very simple a screw under either side of cushion base behind the heel board fuse box covers and 2 more lower lower of backrest

sounds like the transmission fluid is low get the level checked first.hope this helps

sounds like its a module programme issue or a faulty door module/wiring poss wiring around the door hinge area my advise is to find someone with suitable jag diagnostic equipment to help good luck

Wow... sorry! Sounds like you got the wrong car or KEYS... ELSE... you are looking at a DEALER/LOCK-SMITH issue... Do not leave without having at least 3 keys... If you have 2 working keys... you can add more keys... and introduce a new FOB yourself. It is a FORD "style" PATS (passive anti-heft system)

Lock mechanism is frozen. Thaw it out.

There isn't a fuse for the shifter, it is run by other components. What's the problem?

Look for a small button somewhere underneath typically around the edge bottom edge of your dashboard or where the flashing LED is you need to hold that in while the key is on for like 10 seconds and that will change the mode

The pins at connector cud b dirty. Or the tool cud b faulty. Disconnect batt a min then try.or unplug computer and clean the pins there...its in engine area or under dash

remove plastic plugs in armrest, screws behind to undo. remove plastic plug from interior handle eschutchion and small screw.the panel is held on by plastic clips which usually break when you remove panel .to remove panel prize away from door using a trim remover or a screwdriver with care! the clips are a very tight fit.the panel hooks over the window seal at the top. hope this helps.

You have constant power to the hazard switch. Replace the switch. it is shorting out.

Check your owners manual, there is usually a manual cable inside of the vehicle to release the trunk for just such an instance.

thats what i do with mine ,the phone thing but error E 1 means that a cd is jammed in the unit,happens to me all the time as i only use it for jaguar meetings .Now what you do is to pull out the cartridge and remove all the CDS then re insert it and press the eject button again and it might if your lucky retrive the cd in the player and return it to the cartridge ,.then refit all the others till it happens again

do you mean ignition or valve timing? the ignition timing you cannot adjust it is ecu controlled. the valve timing has to be set by locking the crankshaft using a special locking tool that fits in place of the crankshaft position sensor located in the lower flywheel housing and keeps no.1 cylinder on tdc. and two locking bars bolted over the front of the camshafts to keep them in the correct positions, the camshaft sprockets are not keyed to the camshafts to allow adjustment. you need the special tools to carry out this operation, hope this helps.

if your xj8 is the all alloy xj350 model which i am sure it will be at that year, if its petrol it is under the plastic under floor panel on the lh side of the car as you sit in the car. the panel goes all the way down the lh floor pan the filter is at the front part of it. if its a diesel its under the bonnet lh side and you will need to bleed the system after changing it by turning the ignition on/off with a few seconds pause in between each cycle about 10 times. hope this helps.

i dont think there is a seperate fuse for the fuel gauge the only fuses are for the instrument pack if one of these fails other instrument pack functions would be affected also, the usual cause of fuel gauge problems is the sender unit in the fuel tank it is located behind the trim panel forward edge of boot, or a wiring fault,

These kinds of problems are going to happen now that it's 7 years old. Do yourself a favor and do a Suspension Conversion before it dies altogether. No more suspension breakdowns.....and no more suspension lights on afterwards!
