test the brake booster by idling the engine with out the foot brake applied then apply the brake if the fault appears with the brake applied ,replace the brake booster.

I have less than fond memories of tracing electrical troubles in a Jaguar (though much older than yours). Here's the basic process you need to follow: 1. Pull all the fuses. Does the battery drain overnight? If yes, then a circuit that is not fuse protected is the problem. Start with starter/solenoid, etc. Disconnect each thing and test with meter. 2. If battery drain stops, then use meter to check current drain on each fuse. One will have more than a trickle. 3. Once you find which system is draining, you can narrow it down further by disconnecting each thing on that circuit. Yeah, It's a pain, and may take days, but you can find it.

Hi Shelia that should unlock when you unlock the doors. Press the unlock button twice. If that's not working open the boot and under the carpet at the side the cap is on there is an emergency release for the fuel cap. They are usually clearly marked or a bright coloured cable. Regards Jim...

Well i have been thru this problem myself and the only way your ever get it open and to fix the real issue is to remove back seat top and bottom this will give the door panel clearance enough to remove door panel so you can get in side door to open it make surs you fix the pro lem before shutting door again

Check that the wiring and terminals to the sender unit are not broken or dirty. If they are good maybe the sender unit it self is not working.

remove the door trim and reposition the pull rod from the handle to the lock mechanism There is a small plastic lock bit that holds the rod in the latch hole and they break off allowing the rod to fall out.

behind the dash is a computer for the climate control and on this board is two relays and then have packed up ,so what you do is to connect a live feed direct to the motors ,then they will work on the earth return for the speed control.the fuses for each motor are in a fuse box either side of the dash and i think its about the third or fourth fuse in the middle row a 20 amp one that if the fuse for the blowers so use this and wrap a wire around the leg of the fuse on the user side not the supply check with a meter ? and run this wire to the blower motor

you havent stated if its a manual or auto gearbox ,yes manuals were made ,if a auto then just buy a secondhand box and fit that ,1980 should be metric anyway as change over was in 1972 to metric when the UK joined the common market but??

I think you have put a power spike through the electrics. Try disconnecting the battery give it a minute and reconnect. The alarm runs through the body processor you can't disconnect it.

I would check ignition coil first

2 jubilee clips and thats it ,easy job top up with 50/50 glycol/ water mix

it is bolted to the engine /gearbox adapter plate underneath the manifolds easily got to from the underside. 2 bolts and wires. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST.hope this helps.

Don't drive is it a back fire or a misfire. Is the car low on power is the engine running rough have you a warning light on, is there oil in the water. A backfire with rough running might be a blown head gasket check the compressions. And let us know the outcome.

with great difficulty you will need a qualified car electrician to probabley tell you cant inexspesively if at all why would you want to easier to repair it
