The electronics are complex. I would advise you not to tamper with the alarm system as that is likely to trigger the security/immobilise system and stop you from starting the car. I would take the car to a Jag service center and discuss some options with them for either fixing the problem or disabling the alarm in manner that will not cause problems with the security system.

It could be the throttle position sensor.

the fuel lines. 1 supply and 1 return are located above the diff and require quick release tools to remove the pipes they go in to the bottom of the tank(a bit of a pig to get to) but it is possiable. i would tie a piece of string to the tool when i did the job in case i dropped it so i could retrieve it.the pipe then can be released from the clips and manouverd out.from over the diff. the pipe also siezes in the filter so use a good fitting spanner on the filter and pipe union. hope this helps.

i heard you, battery is fine but needs to be tested. can it deliver the required cold cranking amps? i had experience like that. measured 12+ volts at battery terminals, & hesitantly tried to jump but no go. took out battery for free recharge, they told me bad battery.

What is the model year? Did you check voltage and ground for that bulb circuit? Did you check for voltage at the fuse? Give model year, will try to look up wiring diagram.

check the reverse switch on the trans

p1000 is a generic code and is always present, c1175 is a problem with the abs system.

could be out of oil so i would check that first then check the radiator for fluid

Relay is bad. The contacts probably are welded replace it. It could be the switch but it is cheaper to try the relay first.

which brake warning light is on? the xtype does not have pad wear sensors fitted. so i guess you mean the abs light or the handbrake light.more than likely its the abs light and the common problem is the reluctor rings on one or the other of the rear outer constant velocity joints corroded/ fell off get the fault codes out of the abs module to help.

jag X type ,,,expensive big time their is a computer behind the dash ,havent done one as yet myself but its time consuming and if iam not mistaken its the same as a ford mondeo or a ford lincoln as this car is a jaguar in name only .the rear wheel bearing is the same as i tried to buy one for a X type and it was mega money ,so i bought one for a mondeo ,exactly the same made in italy and cost 188euros unlike the jag dealer ,the listing doesnt show in any parts book but my motor factor didnt have a listing either till i insisted on seeing a ford one and on the box was jaguar /ford ,,, hope yours has the leather interior and that horrible cloth one .

Brake light fuses should be in the "fuse box" under the hood.

you have to remove from underside, not easy, remove lower plastic under liner. torx screws that are more than likeley siezed. the radiator is held in by a steel support held by 4 bolts,which can shear offwhen you try to remve, after you have removed transmission and power steering oil cooler fixings from behind front lower plastic grill, 8mm head bolts which are attached to radiator,and the radiator hoses it comes out from the underside. bit fideley, hope this helps

You can't bypass it. It is security. Either the cluster , ECM or bad data wires is the problem.

sounds like the j gate is faulty poss the release solenoid or wiring from memory i think the signal to release the gearshift comes from the abs module on the can network.

the most likeley cause of your problem is a faulty lambda sensor.why do you think it is a bad earth? get someone with a obd 2 code reader to extract the fault codes out of the engine control module, that will help to diagnose the problem. there are 4 sensors 2 for each bank of cylinders, could be 1 or more of them , hope this helps.

I would be afraid to tow with any of the wheels on pavement. You could burn out the central differential.

bad transmission. it could also be a sensor. but how many miles? and how long has it been since a tranny oil and filter change. if it has been over 60,000 miles i would say bad tranny
