This sounds like there is an electrical 'short' in the wiring. The power to the dash is earthing out somewhere it shouldn't be. Does it happen when you hit potholes? Check the fuse for the dash isn't loose. I would replace the fuse anyway as they are cheap enough to buy. *Note* Only replace fuse with another one of the SAME Amp rating. If it isn't the fuse it's possibly the wiring and to be honest I would pay a Good Auto electrician to find the short. Playing 'Hunt the wiring problem' is a game that can take days and batter your brain if you can't find it!

Your car is driven and operated by computers and you changed the engine. Everything electronically is looking for the V6 engine that was there before. My gut feeling is that you need an ECM and BCM from a V8. The best course of action is to find a good local auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. He might be able to reprogram it or flash it. Of course a simple reason is that the fuel gauge sender is broken. An electrician can check that.

USA answer, we have no Holdens here our EPA mandated moving to the fuel tank long log ago petrol fuel right? if you followed the the injector feed line from fuel rail to the tank and see no filter. bingo its not there but is in the tank any car MPI on earth. same answer. all cars made with A/T box, M/T is child play the manual for your car now lost from glove box. it has a tow page and on said page of all cars made is the super secret park lockout bypass button near the shifter, it even works dead car main battery, ,cool or what ? no such cars here USA or would read it to you. google for the book, in AUSTRALIA<> is it? park lockout blocks shifting out of park foot off brake pedal. so some folks dont drive over the kids but takes good battery and key on, and brake lamps working if not the secret bypass is in the users guide. on some cars a slot is at shift console to put key there and unlock it others have small plastic window there that slides or pops open and a lever to push. all tow trucks here know what to do. even jumper cables 12v power , the battery to get power, and key on, hit brakes and shift to neutral. there did i get them all. with zero manuals USA for any Holden on earth

the PCM and all must be scanned, the clusters (IP) is totally dead, most are just networked clusters now, power and can-bus networkd so first on call cars, we check fuse first and for sure M.r cluster or is this NAV oR radio display not told. the we scan the PCM to see why the cluster is dead. 99% is fuse learn that fuses blown on 10 other devices, CAN-BUS wired can make the network or or even do odd things. we have no Hoden in USA so no books here on it. so this is a 2011 evolution answer.
