What makes you think you need a new one? Is it leaking? That is the only reason to replace it.
No heat? This is the normal reason.

It is a $2,000 job because the dash has to come off and sometimes the A/C evaporator needs removing as well. BUT, descaling or flushing the system is easy and done from where the hoses go through the engine firewall

'won't crank' means it doesn't turn over, you turn the key and nothing happens. Normally these questions are 'it cranks but doesn't fire / start the engine.
Jeff is our professional auto electrician, you need someone like him to connect a professional grade scan tool computer and find out WHY the key won't program. Being 'too old' is not an excuse!

The reverse switch on a 2007 Ford Escape 2.2L automatic is located on the transmission. It is usually near the shift linkage and is responsible for detecting when the vehicle is in reverse gear.
If you have already checked the fuse and bulbs and replaced the neutral safety switch, it is possible that the reverse switch may be faulty or there could be an issue with the wiring leading to the switch.
PCM cuts injectors for many reasons and spark
in fact cutting spark always cuts fuel next (detected)
just scan the PCM BEFORE THE AFTER CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START.
1:CONNECT SCAN TOOL
2: CRANK FOR 5SEC (FAILING)
3:RELEASE KEY, DO NOT TURN OFF.
4: Scan it. see DTCs
the DMM sees random voltages measuring an open circuit due the the meter 10meg ohm input impedance.
to solve that put 10k ohm resistor from V1 red to ground black, at the 2 meter pins. for volts.
in fact automotive grade meters have that built in,
a 3 cent resistor.
spark dead (then fuel)fuel is cut to prevent crash and burn as seen on TV. at spark loss. and more,.
1: fuses blow, or grounds rusty.
2: CKP or CMP dead. (or way out of sync each other)
3: ecu sees collision switch tripped in SRS. oops. scan SRS to learn that.
4: TPS ground bad cuts fuel only,.or TBW damaged.
5: coil pack wiring bad.
you need to scan modern cars, guessing never works.
unless very lucky.
Check to make sure that there is a sufficient level of coolant . If the coolant level is low, coolant may stop circulating through the heater core even if the level is not low enough to cause the engine to overheat. The engine's thermostat may also have failed and is stuck open, not allowing the coolant to rise to the appropriate operating temperature.
