The blower motor in my 1989 Dodge Dakota suddenly

Have you checked for a blown fuse first. There are two fuse control panels - one under the driver's dash board and one in the engine compartment. The one in the engine compartment should have the blower fuse. If the fuse is good, check the blower relay (this is also in the engine compartment). The cover to the fuse box has a diagram of the fuse locations and descriptions. "BLWR" is usually used for blower.

Need wire diagram to hook up trailer lights, truck not factory equipped w/harness,

I'm assuming you're just going to splice into the tail light wiring so that's what these wire colors are:
at the tail lamp 3 way connector:
black and yellow = park lamp
dark green and brown = left turn signal
there should be another connector with violet and black wire for reverse lights.
the stop lights are turned on through the turn signal circuits.

How do you know if your cat converter is going

There are two ways a converter can fail:
  • It can become clogged.
  • It can become poisoned.
There really is no "inspection port" for the consumer or mechanic to see an actual clog in a converter. Often, the only way to tell if a catalytic converter is malfunctioning (plugged) is to remove it and check the change in engine performance. When a clogged converter is suspected, some mechanics temporarily remove the O2 sensor from the exhaust pipe ahead of the catalytic converter and look for a change in performance.
A catalytic converter relies on receiving the proper mix of exhaust gases at the proper temperature. Any additives or malfunctions that cause the mixture or the temperature of the exhaust gases to change reduce the effectiveness and life of the catalytic converter. Leaded gasoline and the over-use of certain fuel additives can shorten the life of a catalytic converter.
A catalytic converter can also fail because of:
  • Bad exhaust valves on the engine
  • Fouled plugs causing unburned fuel to overheat the converter
Sometimes you can tell that a converter is clogged because you don't go any faster when you push the gas pedal. Also, there usually is a noticeable drop in gas mileage associated with a clogged catalytic converter. A partially clogged converter often acts like an engine governor, limiting the actual RPMs to a fast idle. A totally clogged converter causes the engine to quit after a few minutes because of all the increased exhaust back pressure.
The catalytic converter, like the rest of the emissions system, typically has a warranty length that exceeds the term of the warranty for the rest of a typical U.S. automobile.
Here is a safety reminder: Do not park your car over tall grass or piles of dry leaves. Your car's perfectly running catalytic converter gets very hot -- enough to start fires! You can keep it running well by keeping the ignition system in top shape, to prevent any unburnt fuel from entering the catalytic converter.

The 1 6 5 4 3 2 firing order for my 1989 Dodge Dakota 3.9 engine made it backfire. Is it possible that some of these engines may have a different firing order?

original-undefined-undefined-0.jpg All the diagrams I see for the 3.9 show the same. However, some show a 60 degree advance in orientation of the cap, i.e. the number 1 position is at number 2. Try moving the wires counter clockwise one position. If you began with a non running engine, I suggest you manually bar over the crankshaft until cylinder 1 is at TDC of the compression stroke. Then remove the distributor cap. The rotor should be pointing directly at distributor tower number 1 position.

I just changed the fuel pump, crank senser, dist.

This is a pretty broad question. Sometimes throwing parts at a problem works, sometimes not.

Engines need 4 things to run: fuel, air, compression, and ignition.
Fuel: Need to test that line pressure is within spec, injectors are working (resistance is usually 12-14 ohms)
Air: Check for proper vacuum, air filter, air path
Compression: usually does not need checked, but if there is oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil, or oil in the intake or exhaust I would check this
Ignition: simple spark test

I want to put a pcm module in my02 dodge Dakota with the skim disabled and I went under the steering wheel colom to remove the skim module and there wasn't one but it still reads code 1685

Then the PCM did not have the SKIM disabled. As you're aware, the P1685 means you have an invalid key, so the PCM is still looking for a signal from the SKIM module that a valid key is inserted.
