the sensors batteries can fail 5 years old and if have 2 cars and 10 tries total, a kinda private hell at home. I ignore mine totally.

Start with the basics. I've been caught out in the past by something obvious and silly. Re-raise all the rear seats. Look at all the links, mounts and lock points where all the seats lock down. Sometimes it's as simple as something stuck in the latch mechanism. Mine was an old work glove. Are the seat belts lined up correctly as these can get in the way as well.
Try resetting the seats in a different order. Some seat systems need to be positioned in a certain way to line up the lock latches.
I think on the C2 it is part of the fuel pump assembly so it will be inside the fuel tank with the pump. Some fuel filter systems are designed where they don't need to be changed as they trap the dirt in the fuel while it is still in the fuel tank.

It would be easier to fix the doors you have on there, unless the bodywork panels are damaged or in worse shape than the ones on the old van. It can only be the hinges alignment, or the locking mechanism. You could take them from the old doors. To remove doors, you just undo the screws, and if connected, any wiring.

on this one ? last time i had one like this on a C4 i bought a new BSM unit the one which is also the fuse board ,, fitted it but still didnt cure the problem , well it did but wouldnt start so i had truck take it to citreon and they had to reprogramme the module ,, Sorry but these modern cars with all the fancy electrics i just cannot do .. Now one thing i have learnt the hard way and that is the battery , if its below about 12,4v then you get all these silly messages ,non starting , wont change gear if a auto ,, bring back the ford cortina or morris marina , never a problem ,, Even better still was cars with starting handles ,, Sorry cannot give you a correct answer as i just dont know ,, Check battery voltage if need be change battery and if this doesnt work then its a dealer only job who have the correct software ..
On some French engines they number the cylinders backwards compared to everyone else. Citroen cylinder 1 nearest the gearbox/Transmission end So number 3 will be nearest the belts and pulley at the opposite end. Almost every other manufacturer does not use this numbering system.
When the Automatic Climate Control is set, you are no longer in control of settings and fan speeds. The sensors make the unit run at full speed and don't power down until the set temperature is reached. If you have the temperature set to 18'C (Max Cold), it is likely to never achieve that. If you want to take control back, you need to take it from Auto, to Manual. If it still does it, you need to go to an auto electrician who will use a pro grade scan tool to check on communications to the Body Control Module and the sensors controlling AC, Heating, and Fan Speeds.

No, you need an auto electrician with a pro grade bi-directional scan tool computer. All of those functions come from the body control module. There is a communication issue.
If you are going to do this yourself do it with the engine COLD. Coolant operate at over 100'C so it will burn you!
I think on that engine the sensor and thermostat are built as a single combined thermostat housing. The easiest way to find the Thermostat housing is to follow the large, black coolant pipe that is coming out of the top of the radiator. follow it back towards the engine and the other end of the hose should be attached to the thermostat housing.
On the 1.6 it is usually on the transmission end of the engine between the cylinder head and the air filter box housing which you will need to remove. Once you have removed the air filter box access to the housing is much easier.
I have attached a video link as a guide for the job. The car in the video may be different to yours but the 1.6 is a standard Citroen engine so it is fitted to lots of different models.
This engine uses the cartridge style filter and Not the screw on type. It is positioned on the front of the engine.
*NOTE* Do this with the engine oil COLD as engine oil can reach 250'F (120'C) and will cause burns!
Stand with your knees against the front grill and look down between the radiator and engine block. On the right side, (your right), on the engine next to the exhaust manifold there should be a large round, black plastic cap with a large bolt head shape on the top. This is usually a 27mm.
It is plastic so don't use too much force when unscrewing it and you might need to turn it a lot before it lifts off. The filter has rubber seal rings on it making it tight but it should just pull up and out.
When refitting install by HAND first to avoid stripping the threads. Tighten until it just becomes tight then STOP. The cap does not need to be too tight as it is on the Low pressure side of the oil system.
