BMW MINI R50 charge warning light is on. It turned on after oil leaked flashy from the power steering pump. Power generation and charging are normal. What's the problem?
no year car told at all.
using voltmeter
what is battery voltage at idle.?
not told' 13. to 15vdc is par, if below the alternator is dead or its fuses blown.
if ALT is dead, driving the car , far (30min) will make engine stall and be dead, until battery is jump started or charged.
that lamp comes of a reason, it means
fully load test the battery and test the alternator correctly
check all fuses
scan the OBd2 port with a scan tool for charge system errors.
If the battery is bad,the alternator can in fact refuse to charge it.
intermittent battery cell shorts or opens can do that.
batteries over 7 years are , love to fail.
"it turned on after oil leaked flashy/, "
i am not sure what flashy means.
DId the PS pump fail and leak and squirt PS fluid to some electronics
under the hood, that can be vary bad, if did.
be more clear on PS leaks, leaked to where. ? matters
Where is a 2003 bmw x5 e53 3.0L starter relay location, under the hood on top of the fuse box in glove box??
get the service manual.
the users guide does not cover relays.
or 2 persons find it.
one key start (cranking)
other one finds the relay that clicks cranked
bingo found, and can click even bad. (contractor burned inside) or starter is bad. ever hot wire a starter , keys in pocket?
or of all are dead , chances are the relay is good and
problem is up stream.(from relay)
PRNDL switch bad, in Park and Neutral both?
key switch failing (bet not)
IMMO lamp glowing wrong and engine is DISABLED.?
try both IMMO keys yet, it came new with 2 keys
battery is bad and dead
battery is only discharged
battery lugs, rusty and loose all 4ends good, 2 cables.
scan the PCM yet, see if it tells you what died?
no country told, and scanning is not the same outside USA.
it is based on secret country you. for sure. 2003
all ours 1996 up is OBD2, we invented it here. EPA.gov mandated. other countries lagged till 2003 or 07 or beyond.
not posting the country makes answers super hard and most times dead wrong.
your X5 has many Range rover parts. 99 up
best is check all fuses first
then scan it, never miss out on the chance it tells you
for example TRS (tran, range switch) errors (PRNDL)
be a shame to mis out on that.
or not cranking? is it? (is cranking dead? or just slow)
shift to Neutral and crank, to see if that works is really first.
covered this is , in the users guide, crank in park or N./
2006 BMW 530i stops message steering activating
Hi I have been told that the first thing to do is to check thr power steering fluid level, if not that then you should check that battery voltage is ok and alternator is working ok, hope this was some help all the best.
2009 BMW 328i climate control fuse keeps blowing out?
all cars made for 100 year like to short
cheap harnesses. that rub, fray and short from VIBRATION not more it does the worst it gets.
my buddy captain Dick almost died in C5 Galaxy with short;in the harness mid cargo bay.
he saved the day by pulling the connector there and the fire ended. ( got burn hands doing so but lived)
on your car pull the loads to HVAC controller
may be the blower motor shorted.
test and isolate related parts and the actual shorted device is found, and fuse holds
or is wrong fuse there. oops use correct amps rating only.
2009 is the year of BAD CAPS PLAGUE. so the controller caps may be hard dead shorted out
as they surely love to do. then. (cloned caps H3LL)
Bmw 325i 2006, no start after new battery codes 1624, p1417.p0222
The codes you provided suggest that there may be a problem with the throttle position sensor or the secondary air injection system in your BMW 325i. However, it's important to note that these codes alone may not be enough to diagnose the exact issue.
Here are a few possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can take:
- Check the throttle position sensor (TPS) - The TPS is responsible for communicating the position of the throttle to the engine control module (ECM). If the TPS is faulty, it may cause the engine to not start. You can use a multimeter to check the resistance of the TPS and compare it to the manufacturer's specifications. If the TPS is out of range, it may need to be replaced.
- Check the secondary air injection system - The secondary air injection system injects air into the exhaust to help reduce emissions. If there is a problem with this system, it can cause the engine to not start. Check the air pump, air pump relay, and check valve to make sure they are functioning correctly.
- Check for loose or damaged connections - A loose or damaged connection can cause electrical problems that may prevent the engine from starting. Check the battery connections, ground connections, and all wiring harnesses to make sure they are secure and free from damage.
- Check the fuel system - If the fuel system is not functioning correctly, it can cause the engine to not start. Check the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator to make sure they are working correctly.
If you're not comfortable performing these steps yourself, you may want to consider taking your BMW to a certified mechanic for diagnosis and repair. They will be able to use diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs.
2003 BMW X5 E53. Why doesn't the CD cartridge eject?
There could be several reasons why the CD cartridge is not ejecting from your 2003 BMW X5 E53. Here are some steps you can try to get it out and potential causes of the issue:
- Check the CD player: First, make sure that the CD player is on and functioning properly. If the player is not working, it may not be able to eject the cartridge. Check the player for any error messages or signs of malfunction.
- Press the eject button: Try pressing the eject button on the CD player. If the cartridge is still not ejecting, you may need to try a different method.
- Use a thin object: If the eject button is not working, you can try using a thin object, such as a paperclip or needle, to press the eject button. Insert the object into the small hole near the eject button and push gently. This may release the cartridge.
- Check the cartridge: If the cartridge is still not ejecting, there may be a problem with the cartridge itself. Check the cartridge for any signs of damage or wear. Make sure that the CDs are properly inserted into the cartridge.
- Check the CD player mechanism: If the cartridge is not damaged and the CD player is functioning properly, the issue may be with the CD player mechanism. In this case, you may need to take the car to a mechanic or a BMW dealership for repair.
It's worth noting that some BMW models have a security feature that prevents the CD cartridge from ejecting if the battery has been disconnected or the car has been jump-started. If this is the case, you may need to enter a security code to unlock the CD player before you can eject the cartridge. Check your car's manual for instructions on how to enter the security code.
I have a 2004 BMW 330 ci with coolant leaking from around the left side motor mount. Is there a freeze plug in that vicinity?
It's unlikely that there is a freeze plug in that area. The most common sources of coolant leaks on BMW E46 3-Series models are the expansion tank and the radiator. However, there are a few other possibilities that could cause a leak in that area:
- Heater Core: The heater core is located inside the dashboard and circulates hot coolant to provide heat to the interior of the car. If the heater core is leaking, coolant can drip down onto the motor mount.
- Coolant Pipe: There is a coolant pipe that runs along the left side of the engine and connects the engine block to the heater core and radiator. If this pipe is corroded or damaged, it can leak coolant onto the motor mount.
- Head Gasket: A failing head gasket can cause coolant to leak externally from the engine. While this is less common, it's worth checking to see if there are any signs of coolant leaking from the head gasket.
It's recommended to have the coolant system inspected by a qualified mechanic to determine the source of the leak and to make the necessary repairs.
BMW 318 dash light not coming on
If the dashboard lights on your BMW 318 are not coming on, there could be a few potential causes. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check the fuses: Locate the fuse box in your BMW 318 and check the fuse that corresponds to the dashboard lights. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one.
- Check the dimmer switch: The dimmer switch controls the brightness of the dashboard lights. If the switch is turned all the way down, the lights may not be visible. Make sure the switch is turned all the way up.
- Check the battery: If the battery is weak, it may not be providing enough power to the dashboard lights. Try jump-starting the car or charging the battery to see if this resolves the issue.
- Check the wiring: If the wiring that connects the dashboard lights to the battery is damaged or loose, the lights may not come on. Check the wiring and make any necessary repairs.
- Consult a mechanic: If none of these steps solve the issue, it may be a more complicated electrical problem that requires the expertise of a mechanic. A professional mechanic can diagnose and repair the issue to get your dashboard lights working properly again.
