In my A4, it's on the side of the dashboard (driver's side), where the dash mates to the door when the door is closed. Check there and see if you can pop off the end panel on the dash.

In the 2006 A6 (Quattro) model it is in the trunk behind a panel on the right side

Usually it's a leaky thermostat allowing to much coolant to pass through it when it's closed.To check this, clamp off top rad hose completely(acting like a closed thermostat) If you have hot air from the heater now ,you do need a replacement thermostat.

It is possible that antenna was (is) built into glass. If so check if it is connected

You're problem now exists in the steering box end play. Go to the steering box, on top you'll see a nut holding a threaded stud. Loosen said nut and turn the stud in till it stops. Don't snug said stud, just till it stops. This will remove the play from your steering.

Check your switch brake

sounds like you have a earthing problem, it could be related to the adaptive lights controller unit.
