SOURCE: gear shaft

If you are trying to change the boot over the U joint at the swing arm, you don't need to remove any shaft to do that. You do however have to remove the swing arm.

SOURCE: 1987 yamaha xt600 teneree slight vibration in 5th

The balance shaft isnt likely to jump a tooth, unless someone has installed it incorrectly. And if this was the case there would be problems in all gears

Youve probably done this but check the chain and sprockets are in good condition, and adjusted correctly.

The timeing markings should be on the flywheel, F = fire T = top dead centre, however with the piston at the uppermost point, this is known as tdc, and the camshaft should be fitted with the cam lobes facing downwards, thus the valves closed in this position, on e assembled, move engine slowly with spanner untill 1complete cycle with no obstructions, if the engine meets any obstructions stop and recheck timeing and correct, if ness

Raptor 350 cruiser gears not working

Sounds like the bands are broken between the gears and it needs a rebuild. The bands or rings hold the gears in location so that when you shift the teeth will line up

What is the cause for my kodiak 400 shift lever not to move into reverse or park

Check to see if one of the shifter rods behind the side pannel are bent.this usually happens due to lack of lube end people try to force it into gear.

2002 yamaha banshee, it is locking up in 1st gear, all the rest work fine. I put in a new clutch-adjusted the shift lever and adjusted the clutch many times. with no luck. with the clutch plates and...

I am not really understanding what is going on...
.. OK...With ALL the clutch components and the drive chain removed - can you (in each gear) SPIN the main transmission shaft ALOT( 20+ turns) in the correct (drive) direction?..I think its counterclockwise.

It is important to remove the drive chain and all clutch components to do this check. You are checking for a SINGLE CRACKED GEAR TOOTH .. the crack will be at the base of a tooth.

Do this check exactly as described.. you are checking the functionality of the transmission alone. - no clutch-no drive chain. If you do have a cracked tooth, the transmission will only rotate about 340 degrees in either direction.
If it was the clutch giving the problem, it would happen in ALL gears...

After the check.. repost and we'll go from there.
