Iv changed ignition the coil the stator and harmonic and voltage regulator its a 2004 artic cat 400 4x4 automatic
SOURCE: no spark at ignition coil, changed coil, still no spark
have the crank postion sensor replaced. i had the same problem. dealer cost about $600.00
SOURCE: the wires going to the voltage regulator keep burning up.
Common problem with poor quality parts, the regulator is the problem, the generator is working other wise you would not have fried the wiring, you answered your own question. someone telling porkies to get more money from unsuspecting client?
The regulator controls the voltage not the generator, the generator only supplys the voltage it cannot overcharge unless the regulator is not working properly, simple!
SOURCE: wire connector between stator & voltage reg/rectifier burnt
your voltage/reg. can be tested in a couple different ways check ground res. check res. then revs. bias on diodes you have ac in dc out it sounds like you may have a diode gone bad allowing ac curent to flow causing the wires to get hot
SOURCE: engine turns over but no spark at the plugs.
You can change pick-up coil, you need to remove distributor (mark where rotor is pointing first) Then you need to remove pin in cam gear on end of shaft to remove gear so you can remove shaft from housing. Then you can replace pick-up coil. Install in reverse. Note when removing distributor rotor will move to the right as you lift distributor out, move rotor to right of mark you made when installing distributor back in.
SOURCE: Ford 9N problems; Changed plugs, wires,
You might check ground. some of these units were ground positive. did you switch the posts? This would cause problems since the electrons are on the inside of the condinser.
Good luck
