You have an inner cable and outer cable... they BOTH have to be specific lengths,(and they are not the same).. Did yours break?... get pinched?.. Its easier to purchase the original factory cable than try to make one! MANY MANY years ago you could buy all types of cable ends, inner wire, outer sheathing and make your own..now its not $$$ feasible to make your own,, and CHANCE having it break or an end fall off (the wrong end) and end up inside your engine!!..ooppsss.. You will have to get someone who works in a parts dept. to measure a NEW one..inner and outer.

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.
I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.
OR, Buy a new monitor.

If you're talking about the old style throttle cable that is internal of the handlebar, it's pretty straight forward. Remove the throttle grip, the rollers and pin for the plunger. Pull the plunger out bringing the old throttle cable with it or at least out far enough to loosen the small set screws that lock the cable in. Now, run the new cable through the outer housing. put the end of new cable into the plunger and tighten the set screws. Replace plunger into the handlebar, replace pin and rollers, replace throttle grip. Now, set the throttle to full closed posititon. Move carb throttle lever to full closed position. With throttle cable through clamp tighten screw securing cable. Check for proper operation of throttle mechanism.
