I have a 2011 Polaris 550 sportsman EFI. It was hard to shift and now it’s stuck in high. It use to shift once you turned it off but now it will not shift when on or off. Help please!

Hi, it sounds like the electric steering pump has a fault and is draining the battery. Best get the steering pump checked or replaced.

check transmission shift levers.
polaris has over ride safety switches..
owners manual may help....
or fuel ice blockage at or near the tank pickup,or flow/noflow valve.
could be ice in float bowl of carb. (if not efi.)
...maybe use hair dryer to heat area near carb/efi unit.

check key switch for voltage coming in and out of it with a test light .if you have voltage in and out. go to fuse block check it should have 4 fuses check contacts . disconnect battery clean them with small flat driver .commen problem .with all fuses out. key on, test contact for power atleast 3 should have power one should have power when starter button is applied make sure all contacts are making contact to posts on fuses.

Thier probably not being charged.Make sure your voltage regulator is working.

are you holding the brakes when trying to shift i beleive its the foot brake but hold all of them just incase

As in...? Cold start as in warm weather not being run in a while, or cold weather every time it cools down? Is that fuel injected or carbureted?
