If that is the plunger type choke it is stuck. Try to get the choke out of the carb clean it and put Vasoline on it and it should work fine. I have ran into to this a few times.

SOURCE: Suspected problem with choke.

hey apparently and did are two different stories draining the float bowls and cleaning the carbs are two different things the fact that the choke dosent change suggest the carbs are stopped up after sitting for 1 year clean the carbs let them soak in carb cleaner and blow them out with high pressure air, keep notes of the adjustments befor you dissasemble them (air screws)

SOURCE: Honda magna wont stay on

the throttle ports are dirty clean air filter and run some cleaner threw the caburator and lube the choke assembly and throttle cable and check for sticky plates, if they are not sticking clean out the intake ports with carburator fluid then adjust needle valves to run smooth and back the choke off as you adjust. once warm and plates are fully open and ideling rev it to see if it reves up, if not check for intake leak in the intake hose or throttle plate or carb screws. use starting fluid to locate intake leaks.

What is the start sequence for a 2005 Honda Rancher? ATV?

Check the manual. Some have an interlock involving holding a brake on, hand brake, foot brake or parking brake. Or ask the local guy?

Honda rancher AT makes click noise and will not start except manual???

Actually it sounds like the solenoid is working fine. The clicking you are hearing is the solenoid when it's energized by you turning the ignition key and giving it power from the battery. I would trouble shoot the starter. Start by checking if there is 12 volts at the terminal on the starter. If you're getting 12 volts there, your starter needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

What is wrong my atv willnot start unless youhold a rag with gas on it in front of breather then it will start and run untill gas fumes are gone. Its a 420 honda rancher 2010 model fuel injected. ?

That is a possibility, if it is fuel injected there is a minimum pressure required for it to run. A fule rail gauge is not very expensive and you can find fuel pump testing on Utube.

Honda rancher

take the choke out of the carb using a 14mm wrench. The choke is a plunger held into the front of the carb by a plastic nut. Lubricate it and put it back. Be careful not to overtighten the plastic nut.

There is an on line forum for the Honda 350 fourtrax. They discuss this problem at great length and recommend everything from using the choke and primer, replacing the spark plug with a hotter one for cold weather, to adjusting the valves to factory specifications, and rebuilding the carburetor.
