Arctic cat 500 auto

My quad starts great but going over 16kms an hr,it's a problem, it dies out (sputtering) and almost cuts off. Any idea what could be causing this problem? ps. and it's not the air filter, we checked that...

May wanna check for pieces of debris in the fuel pump jsms up thr disphrams makes it run outta fuel and act up....i hate the vacuum delivery fuel pump...what hapoened to reliable gravity fed tanks....i know...college boys thought up smarter ways...to leave yastranded

Hi Robert, Seems like your fuel pump is on it's way out, There's three links below, The 1st link is a youtube video showing how to test and fix a ( CAR ) fuel pump, The 2nd youtube video is a guy fix/clean an Arctic Cat EFI fuel pump and the 3rd is a youtube video of a 1998 Arctic Cat ZL 500 fuel pump...I hope they help....CHEER.

I have atv artic cat 2006 unlimited edition great shape . however it will just die out loses all electrical, fifteen min later turn the key on and computer is back on and will run just fine.
When I was in the shop, we called things like this 'chasing the ghost' lol.
You'll have to start tracing wires and checking all connectors and contacts and fuses. Test light and voltmeter will be your best assets here as well.

Start at the battery and go from there. I'm unaware of any 'known issues' with the 2006 cats fitting that description but I'm sure it'll be something simple after you spent a large amount of time chasing it...it usually is. Good luck!

I have replaced carb, fuel line, cleaned tank and still acts like its starving for fuel. idles great. any ideas?
does it have a vacuum petcock? I'd check that. always a pita.

I have an 2007 arctic cat 500 i drowned it and it turned off , i cleaned the carburator , i changed the spark plugs . it has spark and the gas gets to it but it still wont turn on . what could the pro
You DROWNED it? Meaning you ran it into water so deep that it killed the motor? Chances are very good that you've done some very serious damage to that engine. Water doesn't compress, so you may have destroyed a piston or cracked the head.

Additionally, water - particularly if that water wasn't exceptionally clean (like distilled water) - will have done anything electronic no good at all, and chances are excellent that it's gotten into every gearbox on the machine.

Last and least, it may have gotten into your fuel tank. At least THAT's easy to drain & refill & add Heet to.
